Purpose of Job:

 

The Digital Content Manager will be responsible for influencing the client-facing content for experiences that touch the ScotiaConnect and Mobile Banking platforms for Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate customers. In this role, the Digital Content Writer will support the digital channel’s business objectives by being an expert English-language writer and storyteller who delivers human-friendly, readable and engaging content in the right format at the right time. All content should represent a consistent voice with the goal of providing instruction in an attempt to; drive increased channel usage, customer task completion, decrease inbound help-desk calls, and drive self-help and self-service.

 

Major Accountabilities:

 

  • Content Creation and Design – Responsible for understanding GTB’s unique customer needs and creating on-screen digital content while:
    • Synthesizing complex information into clear, simple, jargon-free content
    • Taking complex financial topics and turning them into easy to understand content frameworks
    • Being obsessed with proper grammar
    • Maintaining a consistent language and voice across multiple digital experiences
    • Creating, editing and maintaining high-quality, user-facing written communications including:
      • Interface copy
      • Error messaging
      • User documentation
      • Self-Help
  • Best Practices and Content Strategy – Responsible for telling a digital story across multiple experiences (including text, imagery, and video) while contributing to the team’s content framework and leveraging and driving best practices for creating and managing content.
  • Content Requirements – Responsible for developing content requirements, including structured content and adaptive content recommendations while caring deeply about creating better, smarter content that energizes and educates people.
  • Continuous Improvement – Responsible for embracing feedback while:
    • Continuously iterating and improving content
    • Working in a self-guided manner
    • Working within tight timeframes and within specific constraints
    • Showing demonstrated use of design thinking tenants and user centred design principles to challenge the status quo
    • Defining and working within content guidelines with a desire to push existing standards to the next level

 

Expected Educational Background, Skills and Competencies:

 

  • University degree or college diploma with 5+ years of content strategy, information development, or technical communication.
  • 3 to 5 years’ digital experience: design (UX), digital content development and management, and digital technology
  • A demonstrable portfolio of work (professional and personal) which showcases the digital applications you’ve worked on and includes examples of your story-telling skills
  • A fast learner who has an appetite to understand what’s behind both simple and complex financial solutions
  • Proficiency in prototyping software (e.g. Axure)
  • Strong understanding of web and mobile technologies
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional organization, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick to learn new digital tools and technologies
  • Solid project management, writing and editing skills 
  • Flexible, adaptable and quick to turn around results
  • Calm under pressure with ability to manage multiple deadlines and re-prioritize as required
