As a Design Strategist, you’ll be part of our Canadian Digital Banking Design team at our Digital Factory working closely with scrum teams to improve, as well as conceptualize, digital banking products and services. You’ll drive design research and user testing adoption and measurements, unearthing and understanding human needs and motivations using design strategy and research techniques. We strive to connect users to our new and existing digital offerings, and you'll help make that connection intuitive and accessible.

 

Are you the right person for this role?

  • You work to understand users, leveraging rigorous design research principles as well as your intuitive ability to solve problems from a human-centric viewpoint.
  • You perform qualitative research, building proposals and protocols to create a pathway for innovation and change.
  • You enjoy solving design challenges in a range of contexts, including digital interactions, digital selling, digital services, physical spaces and physical products.
  • You analyze and synthesize insights from multiple sources of data, including observational interviews, qualitative research studies, and direct user feedback.
  • You can quickly identify themes and connections between different user groups and across industries.
  • You’re a natural storyteller for digital products, translating research into insights and opportunities.
  • You can create powerful and visually based artifacts that will easily and simply convey current and future experiences, design directions, design principles, design frameworks and more.
  • You provide empathy and an unbiased viewpoint to all aspects of user research.
  • You thrive in a collaborative, innovative, challenging and supportive team environment.
     
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • You’ve got at least 5 years of experience planning and executing UX strategy and research projects.
  • Your background is in design, consulting, consumer insights or a related academic field such as anthropology or behavioral psychology.
  • You have a post-secondary education in Design, Strategy, Research, Anthropology, Sociology or a related field.
  • You’re skilled in a range of design research methodologies such as usability testing, contextual interviews, ethnographic observation, diary studies, co-design workshops, landscape reviews, trend analysis, etc. 
  • You’ve worked on all aspects of the product lifecycle from proposition development through to launch and beyond.
  • You’re able to deliver qualitative research projects, synthesize data and present insights into meaningful outcomes.
  • You have a resilient personality and are able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
  • You’re comfortable working in a self-guided manner with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage own time efficiently.
  • You’ve got excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills – you’ll be working very closely with scrum teams.
  • Ambiguity is your friend. You take smart and calculated risks and support others who do the same.
