The Team:
The Global Cards Technology team is a newly established and high performing team responsible for supporting the development of technology solutions to meet the needs of our business partners with a focus on Global Card Products.  The team is currently leading a very large, exciting initiative which provides foundational capabilities and drives change across the global technology organization in support of the Bank’s strategic objectives.  

 

The Role:
In this role, you will apply your Project delivery leadership combined with technical skills, deep knowledge and experience to implement the technology strategy and execution of business initiatives. This role will give you an opportunity to work closely with business partners, technology areas, third party vendors and other stakeholders to lead the end-to-end delivery of critical technology transformations and accelerate value capture.


Is this role right for you?
•    Manage the team (direct and indirect reports) in area of project scheduling, sprint planning, backlog refinement, impact analysis, solution planning, budgeting and adherence to standard development practices.
•    Actively uses Scrum/Kanban methodologies to manage sprints, track development progress and plan and schedule releases 
•    Manage operational readiness deliverables, release planning with QA and alignment of releases with downstream and consumer applications
•    Ensure proper support procedures and processes are in place to support various production systems as developed. Establish and champion quality improvement activities for the department.
•    Negotiate IT project requirements such as scope, schedule, cost, resources, integration, change, quality, etc.
•    Collaborate with various technology workstream leads within the project to ensure successful delivery on time and on budget, achieving the project’s objectives
•    Build strong working relationship with peers within business lines and technology partners.
•    The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure that the assigned tasks and project objectives are met. Accountable for managing assigned project and department budgets
•    Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, in compliance with IT Technology Roadmap and has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs using Agile Scrum and Kanban framework.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
Essential:
•    Proven experience leading and delivering technology projects (Minimum 5 years)
•    Cloud and/or API / Java development experience is an asset
•    Direct experience in managing delivery of product using iterative or Agile methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban
•    Understanding of development methodologies and familiar with software development technologies and concepts
•    Ongoing communication of project status, completing the monthly Project Status Reports and escalating issues to the Senior Manager, Program Manager and the Director as required.
•    Strong project management skills, ability to manage concurrent tasks and initiatives.
•    Requires advanced expertise in complex business/technical processes and their application within the organization
•    Strong interpersonal skills and can build and foster relationships with peers.
•    Exceptional written and oral communication skills 
•    Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and motivational skills.
•    Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure


In addition, the following technical skills will be considered an asset:
•    Familiarity with microservice architecture, REST/SOAP APIs
•    Familiarity with mid-tier (AIX), DB2, WebSphere, SQL Server would be an asset 
•    Familiarity with Java, JavaScript and other development languages and platform
•    Familiarity with API integration design patterns, PCI DSS, Data Security Standards  
•    For Internal Scotia team members: experience with PLATO, BCS (formally BaaS), CDP would be a big asset
