Title:  Data Scientist, Business Banking Analytics

Banking Analytics is responsible for providing unbiased, customer-focused insights on business initiatives across the Bank, and for developing analytical processes and platforms for use across the Bank that highlight opportunities to acquire, grow and retain customers. Within this department, the Data Scientist, Business Banking Analytics is responsible for solving complex data and analytical problems, using quantitative approaches with a unique blend of analytical, technical and business skills. The incumbent uses their advanced analytical skills to develop analytical assets that will help the Bank achieve its business objectives.

In this role, you will work closely with internal business lines, data stewards and other internal stakeholders to drive business value, and recommend solutions to drive client acquisition, retention, balance growth, cross-sell/up-sell, product activation and usage. You will also work closely with the Senior Data Scientist to conduct analytics and present insights/findings in impactful and easy-to-understand terms for business partners and senior management.

    

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 
 

  • Analyze large, complex multi-dimensional datasets in structured and unstructured format

  • Provide support to various partners and stakeholders across Business Banking by leading in the discovery process to identify business requirements and expected outcome

  • Develop innovative and effective approaches and apply statistical, predictive modelling techniques and to solve client’s analytics problems and communicate results and methodologies to business clients and senior members of the analytics team

  • Prepare detailed documentation to outline data sources, models and algorithms used and developed 

  • Present and depict the rationale of findings in easy to understand terms for the business or senior management

  • Stay current on trends in the data science and fin-tech product space, translating those trends into actionable strategic and tactical objectives for the Bank

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation inside and outside of the company as a visionary capable of inspiring through presentation, demonstration and leading by example

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 
 

  • Post-secondary education focused in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or Mathematics; Master’s degree preferred

  • An excellent understanding of Predictive Analysis and Machine Learning techniques like Random Forests, Neural Networks, NLP, clustering and other similar techniques.

  • Solid analytical skills with comfortability working with large amounts of information in a data lake environment and translating data into clear and concise findings

  • Strong data engineering and data pipeline skills, with the ability to understand how to efficiently build model pipelines to support production ready models

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with strong ability to present recommendations in a client-facing setting

  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL

  • Experience using common machine learning algorithms in Python and GCP

  • Experience using and implementing visualization tools such as Power Bi and/or Tableau

  • Knowledge of Bank Information Systems, such as product and reporting systems, including finance systems, Salesforce, GDAP, and the Enterprise Data Lake is an asset

  • Knowledge of Business Banking products and services is an asset
