The Team

Global Human Resources Technology provides the technology and tools for Scotiabank to attract, hire, retain, invest in, compensate, and reward its workforce globally. The team builds and supports world class cloud solutions and applications, data analytics, and services.

The Role

The Data Integration Engineer role will focus on data pipeline and orchestration development and support cloud-based data platform. You will be part of a collaborative team that includes Technical Lead, Engineers, Analysts, and QE. You will be involved in the full development life cycle, from design, architecture, and implementation to testing and deployment of various Global HR data integrations. To be successful in this role, you should have programming skills and knowledge of cloud environments to deliver high quality solutions for our clients.

• Drive comprehensive and innovative solutions to complex challenges and opportunities, including planning, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications.
• Deliver high-quality solutions by applying best development and design practices.
• Develop, refine, and optimize continuous integrations between applications and data repositories.
• Analyze and resolve technical defects with excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives and achieve target outcomes.
• Embrace experimentation and continuous learning.

What You Will Bring to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering large‑scale, enterprise data engineering solutions and supporting global data platforms and products.
• Strong, hands‑on expertise in SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Apache Spark (Azure Synapse or Databricks), and data modeling using modern data design patterns.
• Proficiency in Python for data transformation and automation; experience with cloud data migration tools is required. Power BI experience is considered an asset.
• Solid understanding of Azure-based data platforms, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), relational databases, database fundamentals, and enterprise data structures.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
