Contributes to the overall success of the  Canadian Banking Small Business Data and Analytics team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

•    Demonstrates commitment to development activities by actively supporting both enhancements and operational needs, ensuring that issues reported within the application are addressed promptly and effectively 
•    Participates in systems implementation, planning, and documentation of current processes 
•    Takes ownership of application(s) and provide complete support 
•    Provides technical guidance to other team members on applications owned 
•    Applies agile development methodologies and work within an agile environment 
•    Performs solution design reviews and code reviews for the team 
•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions 
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk 
•    Willing to learn new technologies to support migration to Cloud based platform 
•    Contributes to a high-performance environment and inclusive work environment  


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

•    5+ years’ of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using tools like Mainframe/TSO (JCL/ PROC, ISPF), Mainframe SAS with exposure to SQL based analysis on RDBMS like SQL Server/Sybase/DB2/Oracle. 
•    4+ years of experience working in large IT projects in a Bank is an asset.   
•    4+ years’ of experience using agile methodologies and tools like Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps is an asset. 
•    3+ years’ experience working with modern continuous deployment pipeline – Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, etc. 
•    Experience with automated testing and code review tools is a strong plus 
•    Strong configuration skills, very comfortable working with complex data pipelines 
•    Familiarity with major transport protocols: FTP, SFTP and other SSH connectivity tools. 
•    Must be able to demonstrate ability to see technical overview of system and impact analysis of changes to overall system. 
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills (written/verbal)  
•    University degree in IT/Computer Science/Business Administration and relevant experience.
