This is a Data Engineer primary role. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Entity Resolution suite within the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program by exploring advanced data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques. The primary focus will be maintaining, using, developing, and optimizing large jobs. Examples of tasks include integrating new datasets into our processes, reducing runtime error rates, reducing predictive error rates, and configuring and organizing new builds.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Ensure processes run smoothly and properly
• Improve existing processes
• Write and update code in Scala, SQL, Python, and Bash
• Run ad-hoc queries on massive datasets
• Analyze model outputs with a critical view of model purpose and stakeholder feedback
• Provide technical expertise and support in the investigation and resolution of AML and compliance-related issues, emphasizing AI model outputs
• Work collaboratively with a talented team of data scientists
• Communicate ideas and insights to peers, managers, and stakeholders
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand model objectives and seek out
• opportunities for improving processes

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

• Master’s or PhD degree in a STEM field, with experience in modelling projects and code development, or a bachelor’s degree in software engineering with experience in modelling projects and code development
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in data science or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry
• Strong knowledge and intuition of computer systems and distributed computation is critical
• Familiarity with Spark, Hive, and HDFS is critical
• Version control familiarity is required
• Linux and/or HDFS experience is required
• Strong Python skills with familiarity in core data science libraries such as pandas and numpy
• Experience with sk-learn, PyTorch, or Spark-ML is an asset
• Knowledge of money laundering, trading, and crime is an asset
• Understanding of advanced modelling techniques and underlying mathematical fundamentals is an asset
• Spanish as a language is an asset
