Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Compliance, the Data Analyst will contribute to the overall success of the team and work closely with business analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and model developers to address business opportunities. The role focuses on understanding business needs and delivering data‑driven insights, while also supporting analytics and model development through reliable data pipelines, tooling, and operational readiness within the Compliance domain.
This role is well suited for candidates with a strong analytics foundation who are interested in working across data, analytics, and emerging AI/ML‑enabled use cases in a regulated environment.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Provide technical and analytical expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines.
- Plan and facilitate discussions with business clients to gather business needs, data source requirements, and use cases to support advanced analytics and modeling.
- Create dashboards to share data insights with the business and build data features used for modeling, reporting, and advanced analytics.
- Build and maintain proper documentation, data lineage, and ETL (Extract‑Transform‑Load) processes.
- Support AI/ML analytics and model development activities, including enabling data access, feature readiness, and analytics tooling used by data scientists and analysts.
- Provide operational support for analytics and ML workloads, such as assisting with development environments, Python‑based workflows, scheduled jobs, and managed compute or virtual machine (VM) environments.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Bank’s business strategies, policies, risk management, and IT processes.
- Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
- Ensure effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, Global Sales Principles, and requirements related to operational, compliance, and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?
We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- University degree and/or college diploma in a relevant STEM discipline (Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics).
- 2+ years of experience cleaning, transforming, and visualizing data from various formats (e.g., unstructured logs, XML, JSON, flat files).
- Hands‑on programming experience and advanced knowledge of SQL.
- Agile methodologies.
- Implementing and managing visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
- Statistical analysis and machine learning using common libraries in R, Matlab, and/or Python.
- Exposure to AI/ML development or analytics environments, such as Python notebooks, model experimentation workflows, or analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with development or analytics infrastructure, including virtual machines (VMs), managed compute environments, or supported analytics runtimes, is considered an asset.
