The Cyber Data Governance Lead is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and controlled management of data across IT processes within the bank. This role combines governance operations, change management and data quality issue management. The role works closely with data owners, engineering teams, cyber SMEs, and downstream consumers and relevant reviewers to ensure data is trusted, controlled, compliant, and fit for use.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Prepare and maintain accurate metadata, lineage, domain inventories, and system to system data flows. 
  • Ensure clarity on data sensitivity, data criticality, data consumers needs, and appropriateness of data for use 
  • Manage onboarding of new cyber/IT processes into the governed data domain. 
  • Understand and evaluate the security, privacy, and cyber controls governing data movement. 
  • Identify gaps in data movement controls and escalate risks where appropriate. 
  • Manage the end-to-end change management process for data elements, pipelines, and usage patterns. 
  • Assess the impacts of proposed changes on Data lineage, data quality, and downstream consumers. 
  • Review profiling results, automated controls, and exception reporting. 
  • Identify, triage, and document data quality issues. 
  • Evaluate the impact of DQ issues on cyber processes, reporting, and downstream data consumers. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis across source systems, pipelines, and governance controls. 
  • Develop and manage remediation plans with data owners, engineering teams, and SMEs. 
  • Track progress, escalate delays, and ensure fixes are validated. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain management reporting (KPI’s) that reflects the health of the cyber data program 
  • Deliver DQ and management dashboards and materials for leadership. 
  • Provide evidence, lineage diagrams, DQ issue logs, and change documentation to audit and compliance groups. 
  • Ensure all activities align with internal risk, cyber, and data governance standards. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles: metadata, lineage, stewardship, data lifecycle. 
  • Solid knowledge of data quality concepts 
  • Experience with data movement and data controls relevant to governed data pipelines. 
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, cyber, governance, and business teams. 
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret data flows, ETL processes, logs, and technical documentation. 
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical issues into clear business language. 
  • Experience in a banking or regulated environment is a strong advantage. 
  • Hands-on with SQL, Python, or similar tools for analysis and validation (preferred). 
  • Data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Alation, Informatica EDC) is an asset.
  • Proficiency with reporting/BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or internal dashboards
  • Data quality tooling (Informatica DQ, Collibra DQ, or custom monitors) is an asset.
  • Workflow and change systems (ServiceNow, Jira, ITIL) is an asset.
  • ETL/ELT or pipeline technologies (understanding, not necessarily engineering) is an asset.
  • Experience working with Cyber Security monitoring is an asset.
