Story Behind the Need


This person would be joining the Commerce Experience team, a cross-functional team responsible for managing all aspects of the Scotiabank.com website. 

As a Content Designer, you will greatly influence the content design of digital experiences that touch millions of Scotiabank clients daily. Your knowledge and expertise on digital project teams will ensure content and design meet business objectives and user needs, creating great user experiences. The role involves content strategy/content audit.

The successful candidate will work with a team of experienced digital employees, across marketing, product & design, exposed to different business lines and projects. 

 

Typical Day in Role:


•    Partner with designers, researchers, product managers, developers, and business lines to define content requirements and deliver compelling experiences
•    Plan, write, edit, and improve content for a variety of web and mobile products, making them easier to use and optimized for discovery
•    Work comfortably in Figma
•    Write clear, consistent, and concise user-interface content, such as product, offer and campaign campaigns, help articles, in-app notifications, release notes, and error messages, ensuring the tone and writing style express and elevate the brand voice
•    Participate in design reviews and collaborate with product managers and designers on content strategy, concepts, navigation, and storytelling
•    Understand the needs of our customers and synthesize research outcomes into viable content and communication experiences
•    Leverage communication channels to build relationships, inspire confidence, and influence decisions with your key stakeholders
•    Plan ahead for upcoming deliverables; identify key stakeholders/considerations early and deliver high-quality results

 

Skills Needed for Success in This Role:


•    6+ years of experience in UX content design, content strategy, or UX writing (previous experience or demonstrated interest in the financial industry is an asset)
•    A track record of delivering digital, web and mobile experiences that are usable, accessible, inclusive, and grounded in user needs
•    A portfolio that shows your approach to content thinking, strategy, and execution across product design work
•    Accessibility experience an asset
•    Competence in SEO principles and a growing skillset and interest in AEO/GEO and its implications for content design

 

Soft Skills Required:


•    Strong attention and accountability to detail
•    Strong stakeholder management skills, working across business lines, marketing, legal, digital and design
•    Storytelling and communication skills: you can translate complexity into clarity, advocate for content in cross-functional environments, and handle stakeholders and feedback with confidence and tact
•    Positive, can-do, open mindset
•    Problem-solving aptitude 

 

Education:


•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience – preferred fields: design, communication, journalism, media
•    SEO certification is an asset, GEO training a bonus
