The Team
This role will serve in the Technology Governance Office, for Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) U.S. The U.S. Technology Policies and Governance manager would be the central point of contact overseeing the lifecycle of U.S. Technology Policies and related documents.
The Role:
This role must work with Enterprise IT Policy document owners to keep the U.S. aligned with enterprise directives and is a first line drafter/reviewer of US Technology Policy Documents. In addition, this role assists the IT compliance oversight and reporting function
This Business Analyst Specialist will contribute to the overall success of Technology for Global Banking and Markets by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Oversee the end‑to‑end policy lifecycle for technology policies, frameworks, standards, procedures and guidelines (Policy Documents).
- Draft and review Policy Documents, ensuring Policy Documents are properly initiated, reviewed, approved, published, maintained, and retired in accordance with the SBUS Policy of Policies and SBUS Policy Management Procedure.
- Draft and oversee Impact Assessments, ensuring Impact Assessments are properly drafted, reviewed, approved, and maintained in accordance with the SBUS Policy Management Procedure.
- Collaborate with technology subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure Policy Documents are adequately documented, reviewing for quality assurance
- Support technology SMEs to ensure Policy Documents comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as the Policy Coordinator for U.S. Technology, representing U.S. Technology in all workshops and decision-making processes at the SBUS level.
- Assist Policy Document Owners in developing and executing communication plans following the release and publication of approved Policy Documents.
- Contribute to Policy Management reporting and oversight activities by providing Policy Management status and compliance information, and supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and governance inquiries within U.S. Technology Policy Management.
- Assist IT compliance oversight in inventorying technology commitments outlined in technology Policy Documents.
- Assist in monitoring changes in relevant regulations and internal policies and proactively communicate updates to impacted IT teams to ensure ongoing awareness and compliance.
- Partner with the U.S. Risk Governance and Policy team to support the review and ongoing refinement of the Scotiabank U.S. (SBUS) Policy Management lifecycle.
- Ensure governance is in place during meetings and that decisions are properly minuted. Escalate risks as necessary.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- 10+ years of experience in technical (Policy & Procedures) writing in the Information Technology space.
- Bachelor's degree and/or extensive relevant experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience in preparing policy documentation.
- Experience in preparing process documentation.
- Experience in preparing standards documentation.
- Proficient in MS-Office productivity applications.
- Ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on various tasks, independently and to completion.
- Attentive to detail.
