Purpose of Job
The Business Analyst, Business Initiatives will report to the Manager, Business Initiatives and work closely with the Sr. Manager, Business Delivery. Overall, the role is designed to provide vital support in the overall development, planning and execution of new and ongoing business initiatives within Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser (SJF).
This offers an opportunity to join a high-performing team and support items that are geared to enhance field operations, sales to grow and scale in priority businesses. Some of these items include technological enhancements, providing monthly project data analysis, and assisting with the launch of tools that will benefit our sales team.
Demonstrating all ScotiaBond values in the execution of every task is crucial when representing SFJ. With support from Direct Manager, the Business Analyst will be responsible for creating and leading ScotiaBond initiatives for the SJF Executive Office team.
Understanding the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring that all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
1. Assist with the delivery and implementation of SJF Executive Office projects focused on business and growth enablement:
• Assist Direct Manager and Senior Manager, Business Delivery in the execution of strategic business enhancements across the business.
• Support the sustainment of SJF national programs.
• Provide monthly analysis on various projects utilization and communicate to Senior Leadership.
• Assist with conducting an annual audit of the Business Plans SharePoint site to ensure access has been given to the appropriate individuals.
• Analyze data and provide monthly reports on the Client Reporting usage to the Business Initiatives leadership team.
• Conduct monthly analysis of Client Reporting delays and communicate to leadership.
• Create project surveys and analyze results to communicate with Senior Leadership.
2. Assist with coordinating business line events, meetings, working sessions, etc:
• Assist with internal event logistics for our National Advisory Board by booking meeting rooms, organizing food, and bringing up guests (when needed).
• Provide support with coordinating conference accommodations, venues, meals, and entertainment.
• Take initiative to seek out venues for meetings and team social gatherings to accommodate all attendees.
• Draft surveys, analyze and communicate the results following roadshows, conferences, and other team events.
3. Contribute to the effective functioning of the SJF Executive Office team by:
• Actively participate in team learning development and Achievers recognition opportunities.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Support the execution of the SJF ScotiaBond Committee initiatives.
• Provide support to key strategic initiates aimed to amplify SFJs Total Wealth offering
• Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches by taking part in team meetings, working groups and special projects.

• University Degree or College Diploma (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance) is an asset.
• Working knowledge of products and services offered by Scotiabank partners is an asset.
• Knowledge of SJF operations and sales environments is an asset.
• Bilingual in French is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with Senior Management, other Bank departments and external partners.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate data concisely.
• Ability to own a project from start to finish.
• Detail orientated.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment at all levels of the organization.
• Results/goal oriented and self-motivated and disciplined.
