Position: Business Analysis Specialist


The Team 
At CCAU - Data Engineering team we provide four main services:

  • Ingest Caribbean region data into Enterprise Data Lake 
  • Provide logical database support to Caribbean region SQL, DB2 and Oracle database users 
  • Provide data for Caribbean region Pulse programs
  • Host Caribbean region Power BI Reporting services 



The Role 
Contributes to the overall success of the  CCAU Data Engineering team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.



Some of the key accountabilities include:

•    Analyze, create, update and review business and system requirements in conjunction with the respective business process owners.
•    Support the development and maintenance of EDL data extract DO BI data modeling and Power BI reporting services based on business requirement.
•    Liaise with other IT team, business lines and third-party provider to support business analysis, review status reports and ensure test results are consistent with approved business requirements.
•    Provide production support (incident and troubleshooting) for open incidents as a 2nd level support.
•    Create test cases, document and support execution of test cases for new and existing changes
•    Co-ordinate releases, RFCs and represent the team in CAB
•    Prepare and manage Data Sharing Agreements for new data extraction requests
•    Prepare and perform Automated testing
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You Will Bring to Succeed 

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, information system or relevant field. 
•    Experience working in an agile development environment. 
•    Working experience with automation testing. 
•    Working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server and able to create and run queries on their own 
•    Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills.
•    Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills.
