Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the IB Insurance, Client Value Proposition team for IB Insurance markets, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Develops and implements Client Value Proposition business strategies, marketing and distribution plans and initiatives across Creditor and Property & Casualty (P&C) product lines (credit and non-credit related) in IB ensuring they are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures. This includes the product and project management and the development and execution of activities required to support all new initiatives and enhancements to insurance products, in accordance with IB Insurance’s long term and annual strategies and objectives.

 

Execution: With primary focus on optimizing the insurance product offerings, the Senior Manager ensures that products are competitively positioned; profitability is maximized while providing clients with a compelling value proposition. This includes market assessment, new business development, product design & pricing, market planning, product training, sales and performance management and delivery.

 

Strategy: Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic business priorities and to the overall growth of Insurance across the insurance line of business

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Maximize product sales across the Region, in conjunction with Retail Heads, Country Heads, Agency Managers and Insurance Specialists
  • Lead project work streams, including problem solving sessions, workshops with cross-functional business line and country-specific working team members and subject matter experts to deploy successful, strategic initiatives.  
  • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful outcomes.   
  • Actively participate in the execution and ongoing management of strategic plans in coordination with Director/VP, Countries, Sales and Digital Transformation teams.
  • Develop strategic execution and monitoring plans, and coordinate with key stakeholders to support the achievement of deliverables and overall objectives.
  • Design, develop and deliver product and client value proposition training materials in support of initiatives
  • Define and document requirements through business analysis, qualitative consumer research and analytics.  
  • Develop business cases and corresponding funding, consensus and approvals for key strategic initiatives.  
  • Engage local insurance Regulators across IB as required and address Regulator requests for information and local insurance audits
  • Develop and integrate protection solution initiatives across IB, working with insurance partners, providing specialized geographic products and maximizing the ongoing development and innovation of distribution channels, communication and delivery capabilities.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing teams to develop promotional plans/marketing campaigns to increase profitability 
  • The incumbent must be team-oriented, possess critical thinking skills, have a passion for solving business problems and play a key role in implementing business line strategic projects, managing relationships other key stakeholders throughout the Bank.  
  • Participate in the Bank’s strategic planning process.
  • Maintain a good understanding of global trends relating to Retail Insurance CVP and products from a pricing, technology, legal, regulatory & marketing perspective 
  • Review/analyze performance of existing product line to ensure performance is meeting expectations;
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of key industry trends in legal, regulatory and market place environments, client needs, partnering opportunities and the competitive situation across all countries.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:

  • University degree in Business/Marketing/Finance 
  • 7+ years of experience with Product & Channel Distribution Management, Branch operational experience, training facilitation and/or needs-based selling of Insurance & Retail Banking products (e.g. Creditor Insurance, Stand-alone/Life Insurance and Property & Casualty, and/or  Loans, Residential Mortgages, Credit Cards, Line of Credit, Deposits and Investments).
  • Fluency (verbal and written communication skills) in English and Spanish 
  • Experience developing strategic plans, onboarding, retention and digital programs 
  • A proven ability to communicate, develop and successfully implement product and delivery strategies, working with multiple vendors to distribute products/services to multiple client segments in multiple markets.
  • Product Management expertise: vision, goal setting, planning, financial analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving/exceeding challenging revenue growth targets.
  • Knowledge of software programs and Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Innovation and value management approach which delivers a needs-based value proposition predicated on consumer behaviors, analysis, segmentation, predictive modeling and other testing methodologies.
  • Experience with retail Insurance, lending and complementary products and services offered by other financial institutions and niche competitors in the local market/country. 
  • Experience with services provided by support areas such as Operations and other internal partners. 

 

Work Arrangement: 

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  
  • Moderate travel internationally.
