Bilingual Manager, Communications & Reporting, GWM Business Risk Management (Spanish Proficient)
Purpose
The Manager, Communications & Reporting, will help drive informed decision-making and the execution of Global Wealth Management (GWM) and Global Insurance strategic goals and priorities by coordinating and managing reporting that provides senior management insight to the non-financial risk program for GWM and Global Insurance. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing internal communication/reporting strategies and initiatives that will inform and engage our teams and will work closely with a diverse set of subject matter experts and stakeholders to integrate information from multiple sources.
What You’ll Do:
• Reporting directly to the Director, Business Risk Management & Strategic Initiatives, GWM and working with GWM Senior Management, the Manager will support and contribute to the teams ongoing leadership and ensures management receives timely and relevant information relating to, amongst other things, risk assessment, regulatory developments, monitoring and testing results, internal audit, and regulatory review results, regulatory inquires and stakeholder feedback. Specifically, these accountabilities include the following:
• Provide senior management with consistent, consolidated, annotated reporting solutions with analytical and business insights to help management make informed decisions.
• Lead and coordinate GWM Internal Control reporting deliverables by liaising with leadership, content providers and subject matter experts from various business lines and functional groups.
• Develop standard and reusable templates that can be leveraged across the teams to curate key information and support the creation of
• Support in the creation of internal communications, to promote transparency in results, progress and strategy
• Organize, maintain, and enhance GWM Business Risk Management SharePoint site, ensuring it serves as an up-to-date, user-friendly, and valuable resource for information and adheres to records management policy
• Create and maintain resource documents, training guides for tools and systems, and ensure all processes are clearly documented.
• Support maintenance of analytical tools (advanced Excel tools) and reporting dashboards (e.g. PowerBI) in respect to GWM non-financial and regulatory risks
• Support and continuously improve the on-going initiatives in respect to GWM non-financial and regulatory risk program by providing ad hoc analysis/reports, monitoring efficiency/effectiveness of reporting through analytical processes, soliciting feedback from stakeholders, and critically assessing procedures.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Manages initiatives and perform other duties to support the operations of the GWM Business Risk Management department, including organizing townhalls, education/training sessions, onboarding and Business Continuity Plan initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:
• University Degree or College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in communication, consulting, change management or corporate communication
• Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory (written and verbal skills)
• Ability to use writing, editorial and graphic design skills to translate complex concepts into clear and informative content for diverse internal audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint is essential and strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy and judgement to effectively work with content providers, stakeholders and senior executives across our global organization.
• Strong organization & problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter and independent worker with a continuous improvement mindset
• Experience with risk management is preferred, but not required
• Wealth Management industry knowledge is an asset
• Interest in programming, development, database design, analytics, visualizations/case management software (e.g. Tableau, R, PowerBI, SQL) and related technologies, is an asset.
Work Arrangement:
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
