About the Behavioural Designer

The Digital Factory is looking for a Behavioural Designer to add to our team of strategists, researchers, designers, and data scientists. You are someone who can use multiple methodologies for short and long-term changes, combining insights from behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, applied behavioral science and design thinking. As our Behavioural Designer, you will work closely with the team and various business stakeholders to bring a deep understanding of what shapes our customers’ emotion and behaviour, applying these insights to real-world problems in the design of our evolving customer experiences in digital banking.


Is this the right role for you?


  • You will provide behavioural science expertise across a number of active research projects aimed at reimagining how we serve our customers from a human-centric viewpoint
  • Yiu will conduct secondary and applied research to understand psychological, behavioural and cultural factors which influence people’s financial habits, decisions and wellbeing; creating a pathway for innovation and change
  • You can translate behavioural economics and decision-making theories into tangible, real-life initiatives for our customers and results for our business
  • You serve as the subject matter expert on effective behavioural intervention strategies to positively impact financial-based behaviours and habits, and be able to provide actionable solutions and recommendations
  • You work directly with product designers to apply behavioural economics principles into digital customer experiences
  • You stay up-to-date on the latest developments in behavioural theories related to promoting positive change in financial-based behaviours, as well as in the technology and methodology of intervention design and evaluation
  • You will help solve design challenges through the lens of behavioural design in a range of contexts, including digital interactions, digital selling, digital services, physical spaces and physical products
  • You create powerful, visually based artifacts that will easily and simply convey key insights and opportunities
  • Convey research outcomes through easy to consume, visually compelling storytelling, in both verbal and written forms
  • Provide empathy and an un-biased viewpoint to all aspects of user research
  • Participate in a collaborative, innovative, challenging and supportive team environment
  • Actively seek out strategists, researchers and designers to help elevate thinking from behavioral economics and actively share this thinking with the team on a regular basis


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

  • Master’s or Ph.D level education in Behavioural Science, Research, Cognitive or Social Psychology, or a related field
  • At least 2-3 years experience planning and executing behavioural economics research projects for real-life applications
  • Worked in design, consulting, consumer insights or a related academic field such as social or behavioral psychology.
  • A demonstrated background in producing microeconomic or beheavioural science research through established research & experimentation methods such as observational studies, interviews, diary studies, surveys, regression analysis etc.
  • Proven ability to deliver qualitative research projects, synthesize data and present insights into meaningful outcomes.
  • Demonstrates a positive and resilient personality; able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
  • Has a history of solving problems, creating solutions and driving change within a team
  • Comfortable working in a self-guided manner with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage own time efficiently.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Deals well with ambiguity, taking smart and calculated risks and supports others who do the same.
  • Open, persuasive, engaging and love to have a good laugh.
  • A background in Fintech or other financial related products is an asset.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite is an asset; including the ability to build your own design artifacts
  • French and/or Spanish proficiency considered an asset
