Contributes to the overall success of the Business Continuity Management function globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Business Continuity Management Unit works as part of the larger Enterprise Crisis Management program, providing oversight for overall business continuity planning. Participates in the on-call program. Partners with and supports Relationship Managers on the quality and completeness of plans. Ensures documentation is current and relevant. The Business Continuity Management Specialist will work closely with the Senior Manager, Business Continuity Management on the creation, management, and sustainment of a comprehensive enterprise-wide Business Continuity Management program, ranging from quality assurance to incident management response

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provides support and recommendations to Relationship Managers and employees filling Business
  • Continuity roles based on BCM Policy, Guidelines, Mandate(s) and industry best practices.
  • Complete health checks on plans in preparation for semi-annual reporting and ensure data fidelity to facilitate accurate reporting.
  • May be required to provide 24/7 incident management On-Call support per schedule. Following up until issue/event is closed.
  • Conducts initial checks on plans, in support of business continuity Plan Reviews in accordance with BCM requirements or as required.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders across the Bank on the implementation of a governance structure that spans the business continuity lifecycle, including the creation and enhancement of business continuity management programs and systems.
  • Supports the Senior Manager, Relationship Manager and Director of the BCMU as an independent line of validation and verification with respect to key components of the Business Continuity Management function.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on processes focused on Business Continuity Management, with the objective to create an improved end state by:
    • Contributing to and/or reviewing BCM material, BCM documents, including but not limited to the BCM Policy, Mandate(s), Training material and Guide(s), ensuring content is applicable to target audiences and aligns with overall program objectives
    • Working as a collaborative and strategic partner to business lines to increase their preparation for an incident that may affect their ability to continue business as usual by conducting health checks on plans and/or the BCP application data.
    • Maintains key notification lists, training and on-call schedules.
    • Administers changes to business continuity plans when required.
    • Prepares monthly reports and updates when required
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to business continuity regulations and best practices, operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational
  • Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework and the
  • Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Strong communication writing skills and report preparation
  • Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty; proactively identify and solve complex problems impacting management and business direction
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize against many competing interests in an environment of constant change
  • Nice to have, experience in internal and external audits and/or regulators
