The Audit Manager assists in leading internal audit activities related to Financial Crimes and AML in support of the Audit Department in executing on its global mandate, ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives, and all audit activities are conducted/executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The Audit Manager is a dynamic, innovative, and trusted advisor who uses data to deliver industry-leading assurance and insights to keep the Bank and our customers safe.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:  
•    Supports the Officer in Charge (OIC) with the execution for assigned audits. This includes completion of audit testing, discussions with management and documentation of work performed. 
•    May act as Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of low to medium complexity for assigned audits.
•    Works with other audit teams as required.
•    Executes, plans and reports on the assigned audits. Obtains a thorough understanding of the business/unit/ process and associated risks, develops an appropriate risk-based audit approach, and schedules timing and resources. 
•    Ensures audit results are gathered, determining the root cause of the problem and the associated impact. Drafts  reports and issues. Presents audit results and findings for presentation to management.
•    Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Ensures Scotiabank standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics are maintained in completion of all assignments.
•    Stays informed on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends. Conveys risk-related information to Officer-in-Charge or Audit Principal and senior management.
•    Maintains stakeholder relationships to successfully carry out audit activities.
•    Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
•    Meets Department training requirements.
•    Provide support to Senior Managers, Directors and VP, AML/ATF & Sanctions Audit with the management of the AML Audit Program which includes test scripts, training, annual planning, quarterly reporting, annual report to Board of Directors, Continuous Monitoring Activities, initiatives, projects (e.g., regulatory remediation) and day to day operations of the AML Centre of Excellence. This includes supporting the Director, AML/ATF & Sanctions Audit in continuous monitoring to assess Financial Crime related controls in Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions and KYC areas.
•    Plans, documents, and seeks agreement in advance to the project approach and confirms conclusions upon completion in writing.
•    Interacts and coordinates with other groups involved. Completes timely review of workpapers, ensuring internal control weaknesses are clearly documented with recommendations addressing the root cause and are communicated timely to management


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? – We would love to work with you if you have:
•    University/Post secondary degree in Business or equivalent. 
•    At least 2+ years relevant experience. 
•    Working knowledge of the operations and regulatory environments.
•    Ability to work in high levels of ambiguity and in a rapidly changing environment.
•    Proficient at applying Scotiabank methodology and using risk-based auditing standards and practices.
•    Good analytical skills and proficiency in the use of data analytic or visualization tools.
•    Ability to execute multiple projects at any given time.
•    Developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). 
•    Good people management and coaching/development skills.
•    Curiosity mindset.
•    Demonstrates expertise in BSA/AML laws and regulations, as well as having experience with OSFI and FINTRAC requirements. Additionally, possesses an understanding of how to apply these requirements in a financial service environment.
•    Strong knowledge of AML/ATF/KYC and sanctions international regulations, including FATF recommendations.
•    Leads the validation of AML issues identified during audits, ensuring that corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustainable. This includes reviewing management's action plans, conducting follow-up testing, and confirming that issues have been resolved in accordance with regulatory expectations and internal policies
•    Engages in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in AML and audit methodologies.
•    Ability to coordinate and standardize activities across multiple jurisdictions, with proficiency in both English and Spanish.
•    Proficient in drafting audit workpapers in both English and Spanish
