Major accountabilities

 

• Supporting the delivery of training and development based on a complete curriculum focused on 3 key areas to new incumbents (Wealth Associates) into the Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser (SJF) business line nationally.
• Support facilitation of virtual conference calls and synchronous training as required to new and existing Wealth Associates
• Assist with program reporting, assessments and up-to-date, efficient record keeping
• Proactively and on an ongoing basis identify opportunities for enhancements and continuous improvements
• Investment/Portfolio management
• Client/Stakeholder Relationship management
• Complete investment portfolio reviews/analytics and proposals, as needed
• Processes, Policies and Procedures


Investment/Portfolio Management
• Including but not limited to: Support the WAAP Portfolio Manager in developing and delivering training on SJF Investment Platform/Mandates/Strategies, Portfolio Construction, KYP and assessing suitability.
• Assist in providing ongoing support to the field, responding on investment performance and client concerns utilizing various portfolio management systems (Bloomberg, Morningstar, MPower)
• Providing portfolio analytics and risk measurement of mandate composites and client portfolios
• Assist in delivering insights to the field that will support competitive positioning and more effective portfolio advise. 

 

Client Relationship Management
• Support training and development around the deep discovery process, the SJF value proposition, the firms’ core beliefs and the 5-step relationship process
• Using strong knowledge of Scotia Wealth Management’s diverse products and services, to ensure the client’s needs are fulfilled within the regulatory environment (KYC/KYP/Suitability)
• Contribute to the effective collaboration of key Scotia Wealth Management Stakeholders:
              o Building effective working relationships across teams and with various business lines
              o Maintaining a high level of customer service
              o Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
              o Actively participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings
              o Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches
              o Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members

 

Risk Management/Compliance
• Maintaining awareness and ensuring compliance/adherence to all procedures, regulatory activities and guidelines including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering, AntiTerrorist Financing, FCAC, Know your Client, Occupational Health & Safety and Guidelines for Business Conduct
• Minimizing the Bank’s overall exposure to risk
• Supporting the maintenance of client portfolios in accordance with established firm strategies
• Adhering to bank and firm standards, policies and business practices to ensure that SJF is meeting the appropriate regulatory and compliance requirements as they relate to both new and existing accounts
• Escalating, documenting and reporting any unusual occurrences, suspicious or fraudulent activities, as per established procedures

 

 


Education/Work Experience/Designations


• University Degree (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance)
• CFA designation or working towards CFA is a nice to have
• Preferably, meet the regulatory requirements to be registered with the appropriate securities commissions or currently registered as an Associate Advising Representative (AAR)
• Minimum 2 years of direct experience in discretionary investment management, covering both financial analysis and managing portfolios (individuals, estates, trusts, pension plans, foundations, registered accounts), with an expert understanding of investment returns, potential risks and associated tax implications
