Purpose
The Associate, Syndications in the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) department enjoys a stimulating and challenging work environment in which they manage a broad range of debt transactions. A high degree of responsibility is afforded to those demonstrating initiative and the desire to take on responsibility. Working with Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team to secure new, profitable business as well as further develop existing client relationships in order to achieve sustainable revenue growth.
What You'll Do:
- Executes a wide variety of new debt offerings including investment grade, high yield and securitization transactions
- Work closely with partners in DCM and Sales & Trading to ensure optimal coordination and communication between issuing and investor clients of the Firm
- Supports DCM and Syndication team in the structuring and distribution of syndicated transactions
- Develop product, industry and market expertise across sectors and currencies that ultimately informs strong views on market conditions for prospective issuers and investors
- Support investor inquiries or coordination with origination team
- Provide new issue pricing indications and market capacity views for issuing clients
- Coordinate and arrange investor marketing exercises for issuers
- Develop and maintain a broad network of both internal partners, external clients, in addition to cross-selling existing relationships across other areas and product groups.
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Contributes to building a high performance environment that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; managing development planning for the team.
What You'll Bring:
- 2-7 years of related work experience either in syndication, Debt Capital Markets or Capital Markets
- CFA, MBA or CA is an asset
- Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory Specific functional or product knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
- The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
- The ability to perform effectively in a team environment
- High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
- Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
- A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
- Independent thinker and proven ability to make decisions
Work Arrangement:
This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work 4 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
