Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of GBM Project Financials globally and select Enterprise Project Financials, managing a group of 8 and ensuring team goals, specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of Global Banking and Markets business strategies and objectives and in compliance with GAAP and all relevant internal accounting procedures and policies. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Provide oversight, support and monitoring for all aspects of project finance on behalf of Global Banking and Markets and the management of discrepancy analytics and project financial reporting
  • Provide support and coaching to GBM Project Managers, and others as required, to ensure project financials are managed in a robust and controlled manner
  • Present strategic solutions to achieve compliance which align with business strategy are low cost by design and which create operational efficiency within the bank
  • Manage governance forums as required with primarily business stakeholders, technology partners and other support functions, and all aspects of implementing new rules or enhancements to existing rules
  • Responsible for interactions with business stakeholders, project managers, GBM and Enterprise Finance groups and technology partners
  • Accountable for the end-to-end management of project budgets, including budgets for business case creation, tracking expenses and forecasts against budget, accounting and reconciliation, variance analytics and meeting established Finance timelines within the monthly cycle
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree level or above in Finance or equivalent experience
  • Must have an understanding of and/or experience in GBM, with a focus on capital markets and business payments, and project financial management
  • Strong understanding of the bank’s Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF)
  • Experience of working within change management programs
  • Experience of managing stakeholders/ running meetings/ preparing presentations
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (advanced Excel), CAPPM, PeopleSoft, PowerBI
  • Experience managing a group of people in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

 

Work Arrangement: 

This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
