Global Banking and Markets

Global Banking and Markets (GBM) conducts the Bank’s wholesale banking and capital markets business with corporate, government and institutional investor clients. GBM is a full-service wholesale bank and investment dealer in Canada and Mexico and offers a range of products and services in the U.S., Latin America and in select markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

 

More specifically, GBM provides clients with: corporate lending; transaction banking (including payments, trade finance and cash management); investment banking (including corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions); fixed income and equity underwriting, sales, trading and research; prime services (prime brokerage and stock lending); foreign exchange sales and trading; commodity derivatives; and collateral management.

 

Purpose:

The Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Business Manager supports CIB businesses within Global Banking & Markets (GBM), including Corporate Banking and Investment Banking.  The CIB Business Management (BM) team is responsible for advancing strategy, financial management, performance monitoring, and execution oversight of the strategic initiatives across the platform.  The role supports delivery of these activities as part of the business management team.

 

Working closely with members of the business management team, Sector Heads, Product Heads, Finance, Communications, Business Risk Management, Compliance, Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal, and other control functions, the associate helps drive business performance, enable growth, and ensure alignment with CIB and Bank-wide strategic priorities.

 

This role contributes to the overall success of the CIB Business Management team by ensuring business objectives, strategic initiatives, and financial goals are effectively planned, executed, measured, and communicated.

 

What You’ll Do:

Business Management & Execution Oversight

As part of the business management team, you will:

  • Track delivery of key business priorities, ensuring appropriate governance, accountability, and execution discipline
  • Collaborate with Sector and Product teams, control functions, and the COO organization to assist with the prioritization of investments in support of strategic objectives
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders by identifying emerging themes, risks, and opportunities

Executive Reporting & Governance

As part of the business management team, you will:

  • Support the preparation and development of materials for Town Halls, Operating Committees, Executive Committees, Board presentations, and regulatory forums
  • Develop clear and compelling narratives that communicate business performance, strategic priorities, and key risks
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, insightful, and aligned with executive and Board-level expectations

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong partnerships across Front Office, Finance, Operations, Technology, Risk, Business Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and other support functions
  • Influence stakeholders and drive alignment across competing priorities and initiatives
  • Represent business interests within strategic, operational, and governance discussions

Culture & Leadership

  • Champion a high-performance and inclusive culture consistent with Scotiabank's values
  • Support employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams

Risk, Control & Compliance

  • Understand and operate within the Bank's risk appetite framework and risk culture
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support effective management of operational, compliance, conduct, AML/ATF, sanctions, and reputational risks
  • Promote strong controls, governance, and risk management practices across the business

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Deep knowledge of Corporate and Investment banking businesses – M&A, ECM, Leveraged Finance and lending (required)
  • Product strategy

  • Strong communication skills; ability to distil key themes from large amounts of information

  • Strong MS Office skills - PowerPoint, Excel, Word; strong understanding of AI (required)

 

Work Arrangement:

This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
