Purpose
The Associate, Business Risk Management will contribute to the overall success of Non-financial Risk Assessments and Records Management programs, globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Responsible for ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Risk Assessments: Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of GBM’s non-Financial Risk Assessments, in compliance with applicable Bank Frameworks, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
- Participate as a member of the team to oversee the globally consistent execution; i.e. Risk Control Self Assessments, Compliance Risk Control Assessments, Third Party Risk Management, New Initiative Assessments
- Act as central global non-Financial Risk Assessment GBM subject matter expert for GBM
- Records Management: Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of GBM’s records management program, in compliance with the Banks’s records management Framework, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
Participate as a member of the team to innovate and create ways to identify, retain, retrieve and dispose of records in an efficient and effective manner.- Document and maintain procedures and guidelines in collaboration with Global Compliance, Technology and other control and support functions for recordkeeping requirements.
- Act as a global records management subject matter expert for GBM
- Execute periodic monitoring, testing and validation of records or recordkeeping, including monthly OTC Derivative trade reconstruction to test the Bank’s ability to provide information to a regulator within 72 hours, when requested.
- Support the maintenance, creation and review of dashboards and reporting for performance oversight and monitoring for records management and non-financial risk assessments
- Support the creation, aggregation, and disaggregation reporting, metrics and dashboards for GBM senior management, or executive committees (globally and regionally)
- Assist in the production of relevant, accurate, and comprehensive information in response to regulatory inquiries or Legal privilege and confidential requests for support.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:
- University degree in the business, finance or risk management disciplines
- Capital markets business knowledge, financial instruments and OTC derivatives is desirable
- Experience in capital markets or risk management role at a Financial Institution
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of internal controls
- Strong written and verbal communications and inter-personal skills
- Proficient with data visualization tools such as PowerBI
- Proficient in data analysis, specifically with Python programming language
- Proficient in English and one of the following languages is an asset, French or Spanish
Work Arrangement:
This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work 4 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
