Associate, Business Manager, Global Capital Markets – Toronto, ON
Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the COO team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You’ll Do:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Strategy

- Support the annual strategy planning process. Partner with Global Business Managers and business support partners to drive desk-level plans ultimately presented to management forums and form the basis of the financial planning process
- Support the active management, tracking and reporting of strategy and key deliverables
- Business Management

- Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Coordinating and ensuring completion of ad-hoc requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting the creation of meaningful, robust business commentary for various recurring Management and Executive Committees, Board meetings, and regulatory forums
- Regulatory and Controls

- Supporting the strengthening and development of the control environment by promoting an understanding and adherence to the existing governance framework and policies, procedures, and regulations
- Supporting the CDIC and Trade Book Winddown regulatory deliverables
- Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and business decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

- Represent COO leadership at stakeholder forums
- Developing deep relationships with desk leadership to understand strategic priorities, support business activity, and drive performance

- Actively driving Culture within the region and the broader organization
- Support a high-performance environment and the implementation of a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team
- Financials

- Supporting the annual planning process
- Understanding drivers of business performance, identify and track variances to Plan. Partner with Finance to develop driver-based forecasting methodologies
- Reviewing business expenses and allocation methodologies; help with driving cost management initiatives as required
What You’ll Bring:
- Knowledge of Capital Market businesses (preferred)
- Demonstrated strong organizational, coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Strong technical skills – Power BI, AI and Excel, Word
- A demonstrated ability to work independently
- The ability to be highly proactive, analytical mindset and lead with a collaborative approach
- Strong communication skills; ability to distil key themes from large amounts of information
- The ability to prioritize amongst many competing deliverables at any given time
- An aptitude and interest in developing deep relationships with stakeholders across groups
Work Arrangement:
This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
