Position

As the Associate, Advisory First Line Testing you will contribute to the design and execution of the Regulatory First Line Testing program globally; ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are carried out in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures focussed in Swap Dealer activities. In addition, you will also supports high priority initiatives such as Risk Assessment, Issue Management, and regulatory response for the overall program.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • This role will require sound experience in regulatory advisory with key focus areas including but not limited to Dodd-Frank, CFTC, EMIR, CANDER, Volcker
  • Support the Associate Director in the overall design and execution of the Regulatory First Line Testing program including preparation of senior management reporting, development of key metrics and testing methodologies, annual planning, project management and/or other duties as assigned
  • Perform periodic, sample-based testing of regulatory onboarding key controls that impact GBM Swap Dealer trading activity. The reviews require sound working knowledge of derivatives regulation within a Swap dealer (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, Canadian Trade Reporting)
  • Perform analysis to identify patterns, themes, or trends that indicate potential weaknesses or gaps in the execution of GBM-wide Regulatory Onboarding controls and working with key stakeholders to develop appropriate corrective action plans
  • Support continuous development on Regulatory Onboarding First Line Testing reporting to ensure timely delivery of First Line Testing reporting to Senior Management and 2nd Line stakeholders
  • Support in the development and delivery of future Regulatory Onboarding QA program phases due to changes in the
  • Developing and maintaining key relationships with GBM Execution Teams and second line of Defense (i.e. global derivatives compliance teams, GBM Internal Controls stakeholders)
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years in financial services, capital markets, internal controls and/or compliance
  • Strong knowledge of OTC Derivatives regulation (Dodd-Frank, CFTC, EMIR, CANDER, Volcker) with compliance advisory focus is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in examinations/auditing roles, testing, testing methodology, risk and controls analysis, is an asset
  • Experience in capital markets is preferred
  • Data and financial analysis experience is preferred
  • Fast learner, strong analytical skills and critical thinking capabilities to frame complex issues with solution-focus to provide recommendations effectively
  • Change agent with high energy and agile mindset. A demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, deal with ambiguity and drive results
  • Proficient Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong communications, organizational, project management, and planning skills are preferred
