Purpose:

 

Contributes to the overall success of Claims Management in GWO ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Preparing SCUSA TABLEAU, merging and updating G1 file, bulk closing tickets on Merit

• Electing currency on dividend payments for counterparties.

• Processing of manufactured dividends due to SBL activity generated within GWO, confirming tax rate

• Sending outstanding claims letter and value date email

• Calculating Profit and Loss due to SBL activity with regards to manufactured dividends for GWO

• Validate stock record positions and communicate discrepancies/issues to traders and/or counterparties

• Compiling an audit trail of outstanding cash breaks due to SBL dividend activity daily which is reported to various teams within Scotia.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

• Sound knowledge of the Bank’s Securities & Operations group and securities industry practices and regulations and a detailed knowledge of practices and policies associated with CAD, USD, and foreign Income Processing.

• Expert understanding of ADP’s income processing application and a sound knowledge of related BFS applications as well as the various systems and processes used by Securities Depositories

• Good organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize/delegate and deal with a variety of tasks and situations on an ongoing basis

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Good knowledge of application and Microsoft office suite

• Prefer minimum 3-4 years’ experience in banking industry

• Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is recommended

• Expert knowledge on Income Processing, stock borrow loan transactions, fail trades and various market entitlements compensations (trade date vs settlement date market)

• Strong knowledge of related processing systems related to entitlement processing which includes various Broadridge products including ADP, Dividend Re-Write, DTC, CDS, Clearstream, BNP, Citi, HSBC, Escape
