The Role
Contributes to the overall success of the Asset Services – Corporate Action Processing team in Toronto, Canada for Global Wholesale Operations ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The assistant manager of Asset Services – Corporate Action Processing is responsible for the day-to-day processing of Corporate Action events from balancing events, compiling client and counterparty instructions, submitting elections at the depositories and ensure the payments are processed accurately at the time of payment taking account of tax consequences that could affect the payment. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Daily interpretation of notification of Corporate Acton Events.
- Reconciliation of books and record positions on multiple internal systems and depositories.
- Liaise with counterparties on deadlines, elections, liabilities, and payment processing.
- Process all voluntary instructions on a timely and accurate basis.
- Monitor, calculate and process daily payments
- Confirm all payments were processed correctly, balance general ledger and adjust out of balances.
- Problem solve unusual discrepancies including identifying the cause of the problem and what is required to prevent recurrence
- Maintain strong relationships with the trading desks, operations teams, and all support groups.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma
- Subject matter expert well versed in the entire lifecycle of all Voluntary Corporate Action Events.
- In depth knowledge of CDS platform
- Track record of strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Strong Excel Skills (Must be comfortable with pivot tables and V Lookups)
- Broadridge BPS experienced user.
- Experience with foreign depository, custodian Corporate Action processes and procedure (BNP, HSBC, Clearstream, Euroclear)
- In depth knowledge of DTCC platform (CA Web/smartrack).
- Familiar with Swift Corporate Action messaging.
- Understanding of Tax regarding Corporate Actions events (Section 302. Etc).
