Purpose:
 

The Assistant manager contributes to the overall success of the Claims Management Team in GWO/ Globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Facilitate dividend claims booked under various regional Scotia entities.
  • Send Foreign & Domestic Claim letters to concerned counter parties, settle all North American and global claims receivables and payables.
  • Update Reconciliation files based on Claim Dividend Spreadsheet from upstream dividend distribution team.
  • Process payments (via CDS, DTC, BNP, HSBC, Citibank, BESS), and monitor incoming payments to process necessary journals in designated control accounts.
  • Monitor, reconcile and review account activity in the Money Line Balance
  • Process CDS election / work with the traders
  • Set-up and confirm CDS trades / Investigate failed trade.
  • Process FX for DTC allocation
  • Prepare P&L gain/loss report for Traders, write offs for Management and process journals.
  • Download back-sheet on daily basis.
  • Monitor Generic emails; Scotia claim, dividend claim and ISS foreign email. Ensure that all inquiries are responded to promptly and professionally for internal/external customer.
  • Inform front office (traders) for any withholding tax issue, confirm tax reclaim procedure and fees from depository.
  • Daily review of control accounts to ensure outstanding items are cleared and if not, provide narration as to why its outstanding and steps required to clear.
  • Notify tax group to process tax reclaim and or IRS payment as well as QSL for year-end tax reporting.
  • Release & settle relevant corporate action events / tickets in GLOSS system.
  • Corona/TLM/KRI Reconciliation
  • Ensure depots are funded for appropriate currencies before releasing events in GLOSS.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with counter parties by confirming and paying/receiving dividend claims.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with trade desk to confirm trades, investigate discrepancies and verify booking percentages.
  • Process book entries into Broadridge ADP to internal control accounts to reflect payments/allocations.
