Purpose:
As a member of the team, the Assistant Manager will have responsibility for managing client tax requirements to ensure compliance with tax regulations including but not limited to FATCA, Common Reporting Standards and Qualified intermediary related to Global Banking & Markets (GBM) clients. This position will assist with the documentation and review efforts in connection with FATCA/CRS/QI annual reporting.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Assist in managing the day-to-day interactions with onboarding & periodic refresh specialists related to tax requirements and process.
• Assist in managing FATCA/CRS/QI compliance in global GBM jurisdictions, inducing review of documentation, reportable account information, and accuracy of information returns,
• Assist in providing oversight and governance over FATCA/CRS/QI compliance where client onboarding processes and data management are conducted locally.
• Produce FATCA/CRS/QI regulatory reports in accordance with SOPs/production schedule/regulatory reporting deadlines. Gather data, perform quality control functions & compile data for report submission. Ensures report timeliness, completeness & accuracy of submission to the checker.
• Serve as a Subject matter for GBM Onboarding team for FATCA CRS and QI regulation
• Assist in Maintaining and record KPI data for Annual GBM FATCA/CRS/QI Reporting for management consumption to ensure variations in data reporting oversight are addressed.
• Ensure compliance with current and future tax requirements for GBM clients
• Ensure Daily/Monthly FATCA/CRS/QI Operational Monitoring and updates.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
• Experience with knowledge of tax rules and regulations such as FATCA (Chapter 4 and IGA regimes), Common Reporting Standards,. Familiarity with Form W-9, all Forms W-8, 1099, and 1042S tax forms.
• Knowledge of Broadridge and Fenergo systems is a plus.
• Experience with regulatory audits and reporting.
• Ability to convey tax rules, regulations, and processes to Onboarding Operations and the Business lines.
• Ability to read and interpret IRS Code, regulations, and instructions.
• Ability to interface with all facets of our business.
• Ability to multitasking and project management capability.
• Strong communication and problem solving skills.
• Basic Knowledge of US and Canadian tax laws to support the FATCA and Common Reporting Standards in gathering requirements for regulatory compliance for the GBM business.
• Familiarity with investment fund structures (e.g. hedge funds, mutual fund trusts) and capital market products (e.g. securities lending, prime brokerage, repos, derivatives) is a plus.
• Some experience with tax laws to support training and development of onboarding teams.
• Basic understanding of the capital markets and corporate banking business and regulatory trends is necessary, as is a client-centric approach to the role. The international scope of the business, together with the multiplicity of stakeholders, will require work outside of traditional business hours from time to time.
