Title:  Assistant Manager, Food Services - 18 Month Maternity Leave Contract

Purpose:

The Assistant Manager, Food Services is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Food Services Program through the management of day to day functions and by working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors/suppliers. The incumbent works with the Manager, Food Services ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Serve as a point of contact to provide operational support to campuses/hubs and business units across the bank to troubleshoot non-complex resourcing, service, and product related issues and coordinating solutions with vendors.
  • Lead and support administrative duties including processing invoices, logging expenses updating digital platforms and coordination of regular touch points and roundtables with BNS stakeholders, third party vendors and Corporate Services.
  • Tracking and regular reporting on the success of employee engagement, sustainability, and cost-saving initiatives through data analysis and in person observations of food and refreshment operations.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  

Dimensions:

  • The role requires a level of independence and initiative
  • Supports cafeteria operations across 11 BNS locations and over 17,000 employees
  • Incumbent will be required to travel (GTA – approx. once a week) between BNS campuses/hubs
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to manage multiple priorities and their own workload in a fast-paced environment

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BSc in Business Administration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office skills, with high proficiency in excel and data management
  • Experience working in the restaurant/food service industry and/or banking industry is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of department’s policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage time
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with issues and interacting with internal and external parties

                                                                                                                                 

Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a fast-paced environment with an office located in ScotiaPlaza at 44 King, Toronto. Regular travel between sites is expected. There can be stress resulting from tight deadlines and service obligations and requirements. Occasional overtime may be required during events and peak seasons.
