Contributes to the overall success of the Field Operations team within Channel Optimization – Branch, Operational Excellence by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Provide comprehensive support to varying business lines in relation to branch consolidations, new branch openings and other transformation initiatives.
- Contribute to the overall business objectives of the Field Operations project team's operational effectiveness by:
- Assisting in managing the implementation and progress of special projects and initiatives for Canadian Banking and Channel Optimization.
- Being responsible for assisting on executing on all operational activities required to effectively execute on new branch openings, consolidations, renovations expansions and transformation initiatives. Including but not limited to coordinating with Regional partners, Real Estate and the Retail Operations Centre to ensure all issues affecting the branch operating environment are addressed.
- Acting as an additional point of contact for discussion of concerns or Regional priorities in liaison with the Channel Optimization team
- Support the Managers Field Operations with administration duties (and provides backup support within the department and in the absence of the Manager).
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have
- Undergraduate degree in business, project management or operations, and/or relevant working experience in providing administrative and/or operational support to a team within the financial industry. In addition,
- Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank’s Canadian branch banking network and related policies/ procedures;
- Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements including OHS, AML, CDIC, Privacy/Access to Information;
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong ability to manage several priorities to maximize productivity and response times
- Thorough knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office applications, and specifically: Excel, PowerPoint, Planner, SharePoint, OneNote and Word.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
The Assistant Manager, Field Operations is expected to act independently, and with a team of subject matter experts, to deliver on the mandate of the Field Operations team. A high degree of discretion and judgement is required in order to solve complex problems and make decisions that impact the day-to-day operations of the unit. It is expected that exceptional/unusual/significant issues that may potentially impact schedules or deliverables are immediately referred to the Manager Field Operations Support, with recommendations / solutions, as appropriate.
Working Conditions
- This role is hybrid. Work in a standard office-based environment; nonstandard hours are not a common requirement, but may be necessary during key peak periods (e.g. beginning of month, quarter end, etc.), or on short notice to accommodate special / urgent requests. There can be stress resulting from tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities at the same time. Limited travel domestically may be required within your assigned Region(s).
