Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Communications Team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Support the planning and execution of Canadian Banking communication strategies, including the annual calendar of Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Executive Thought Leadership, & Crisis Management.

Develop various materials including communications plans, templates, distribution lists, key messages, media materials, executive briefings, and internal updates.

Responsible for cross-Canadian Banking email distributions including managing email previews, testing links, and overall quality control.

Supports updating and net new content development for the Canadian Banking Sharepoint site.

Daily management and distribution of Canadian Banking media monitoring, disseminating the relevant news and trends to key members within the organization.

Proactively identifying ongoing opportunities for Canadian Banking to enter relevant media conversations that would support our overall brand narrative and organization goals

Support with managing workback schedules, and processing estimates/invoices as required.

Assist in development of strategic employee engagements and communication plans aligned with Community and Inclusion initiatives

Develop cross-functional relationships to better understand Canadian Banking initiatives and how the communications team can support organizational goals.

Collaborate with partners and peers at Scotiabank to find synergies and connectivity across Enterprise efforts.

Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate communications role in a complex, high-visibility, high-pressure, fast-paced and knowledge-based environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Word, Teams, Forms, PPT, Excel and graphic design is an asset.

Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail

Strong creative/visual design capabilities and HTML skills are an asset

Thorough knowledge of the operational guidelines / practices in the division and how it aligns with overall Bank processes / procedures
