The Team

Financial Crimes Operations and Risk Engineering (FCORE) Keep the Lights On (KTLO) team supports the Global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) application for the Bank. This system monitors transactions of all customers and flags them for follow-up from the investigations unit.

 

The Role

FCORE - KTLO is seeking an operations focused developer (application support specialist) for our team that supports the Global AML application. The team’s goal is to ensure stability and up time for the application, coordinate with offshore support for off hours coverage and identify problem areas and solutions for the larger team to implement. The focus of the team is transaction monitoring, alert generation, and overall process efficiency for all three business lines (Canadian Banking, Global Banking and Markets and International Banking).

 

The successful candidate will have an investigative spirit and never be satisfied with the first answer to the question “Why?”. Their ability to identify patterns and connect SMEs from various teams will allow them to find the root of any issue and confirm what steps need to be taken to resolve. Coordination across multiple teams, both internal and external to the FCORE group as well as the bank is essential for their success

 

 

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Confirm batch status via regular reporting updates and if anything is outside SLA, rally the various teams and create plan to get it back on track
  • Monitor system performance and latency during regular business hours when users are most active and proactively identify issues
    • For common issues, take expected actions to resolve quickly and independently
    • For new issues, engage required teams on bridge call to plan and execute any fixes required
  • Communicate with users any planned or unplanned outages of the application
  • Coordinate across the multiple FCORE teams making changes to the application so that each change can occur without impact to other changes or the overall application and its users
  • Maintain, prioritize, and update a backlog of known issues and work with developers to explain and solution a fix, with opportunities to implement that fix if skillset permits
  • Organize handover from onshore, regular business hours team to offshore, outside business hours team to ensure that the batch is running 24/7
  • Document runbooks and common fixes for known issues so that offshore team can address without escalation.
  • Provide after hours coordination and support around planned large release dates as well as unplanned issues that the offshore team is unable to deal with.

 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • Required:
    • Operations and Monitoring of a large application and/or batch process (3+ years)
    • Hands on with ServiceNow or equivalent production issue management tool (2+ years)
    • Hands on with Dynatrace / Splunk or equivalent monitoring tool (1+ years)
    • Hands on with Autosys or equivalent scheduling tool (1+ years)
    • Oracle SQL (1+ years)
    • Linux OS experience (1+ years)
    • Apache Tomcat (1+ years)

 

  • Nice to Have Skills:
    • Exposure to Confluence/JIRA
    • Exposure to Java and Java Virtual Machines
    • Relevant AML exposure
    • Relevant FI/Banking industry
    • Ownership and prioritization of a backlog
