In this role, you will contribute to the overall success of Financial Accounting – Reconciliation department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.​

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge​.
  • Collaborate with operational team members to ensure journal entries are processed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Review accounting entries submitted by business units to confirm accuracy, reasonableness, and appropriate approvals..
  • Communicate directly with business users to address and resolve issues identified in submitted transaction requests.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including project accruals, deferral journals, monthly accruals and corrections, tax reclasses, and PSAM close confirmation (BD1–BD2).​
  • Other periodic activities; complete workflow and digital approvals; post tax and spot position closing entries.​
  • Perform reconciliations of Prepaid General Ledger accounts and GBM invoice amortization.
  • Execute activities related to the Asset Management Module, including asset corrections and PSAM close confirmations.
  • Review existing operating procedures and provides recommendations for process improvements.
  • Support Managers, Assistant Managers, and Senior Analysts in the escalation and resolution of accounting issues.
  • Coordinate remotely with the Payments Accounting Processing team within the Global Business Services campus in Bogotá, Colombia.
  • Capture and analyze relevant data points contributing to operational SLA, KPI, and KRI reporting.
  • Conduct cross‑training for Payments and Intercompany Settlements Accounting staff to support knowledge sharing and coverage.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service by responding promptly to inquiries related to journal entries, assets, and projects.
  • Act as a backup resource during the absence of other team members to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Support ad hoc requests as needed.​
  • Prepare job aids that proactively help to reduce support volume and resolution times.​
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions​
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.​

Do You Have the Skills?

  • College diploma or university degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, supported by relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of PeopleSoft AP, SharePoint, and MS Office (including Excel - PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and IF functions)​
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills​
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team​
  • Able to listen actively and respond to issues and escalations in a timely manner​
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills​
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills​
