Analyst, Credit Solutions, Credit Solutions Group - Canadian Commercial Banking
Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Credit Solutions Group in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit Solutions Group, the position is responsible for supporting Canadian Commercial Banking in achieving its goals.
Accountabilities:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
• Responsible for assisting in the preparation of various strategic reports used to inform senior leadership, and to support projects and initiatives aimed at achieving efficient and effective credit and operational processes.
• Responsible for preparing ongoing reports for senior leadership including early warning reporting, industry strategy papers and Commercial Banking lending programs.
• Creates other ad hoc reporting in response to economic trends and other macro events impacting Canadian Commercial Banking.
• Creates and maintains reporting as required by the business line for portfolio management and credit / compliance purposes.
• Performs reasonability tests to ensure accuracy and credibility of underlying data used to inform reporting.
• Support the maintenance of all credit documentation templates and ensure documentation needs are addressed and effectively communicated.
• Supports the roll out of initiatives to ensure they are implemented efficiently within audit, compliance and operational standards to minimize risk to the Bank.
• Support the communication of updates or new requirements arising from completed initiatives in a well-organized manner.
• Participates and provides support to Project Team Leads on various initiatives.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Dimensions:
• The Analyst is responsible for supporting Canadian Commercial Banking and will report to the Senior Manager, Credit Solutions Group.
• Support multiple projects and initiatives at any given time, involving numerous stakeholders both internal and external.
Education / Experience / Other Information:
• College/University degree in Business / Commerce / Economics or equivalent work experience.
• Highly organized and analytical with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines with competing demands and priorities.
• Strong written and verbal skills with proven ability to engage stakeholders and partners.
• Working knowledge of Canadian Commercial Banking products and workflow processes.
• Working knowledge of Canadian Commercial Banking systems (e.g. nCino, Salesforce, Precision Lender, Credit Lens, SDR, OLL, e-Tracker, etc.).
• Thorough knowledge of all MS Office products – Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, where interaction with large quantities of data is common – ability to use pivot tables and macros.
Working Conditions:
• Work in a standard office-based environment.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, determined by business need.
