Purpose:


As a member of the team, Analyst will have responsibility for managing client tax requirements to ensure compliance with tax regulations including but not limited to FATCA, Common Reporting Standards and Qualified intermediary related to Global Banking & Markets (GBM) clients. Key responsibilities include managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, monitoring service levels, and ensuring compliance with operation and regulatory standards. 


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


•    Assist in managing the day-to-day interactions with Custodians and Scotia Prime Brokerage team related to tax requirements and process.
•    Candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of custody and cash products in capital markets. 
•    Provide direct support and maintain contact with clients and internal teams regarding global and local custody activities across all markets.
•    Ensure that queries and issues are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.
•    Gather data, perform quality control functions & compile data for report submission. Ensures report timeliness, completeness & accuracy of submission to the checker.
•    Complete all aspects of daily business-as-usual (BAU) tasks as outlined in daily checklists.
•    Conduct meetings with internal stakeholders and execute remediation activities for past documentation.
•    Assist in Maintaining and record KPI data for Annual GBM FATCA/CRS/QI Reporting for management consumption to ensure variations in data reporting oversight are addressed.
•    Ensure compliance with current and future tax requirements for GBM clients.
•    Strong communication and problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and proficiency in relevant software.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:


•    Experience with knowledge of tax rules and regulations such as FATCA (Chapter 4 and IGA regimes), Common Reporting Standards,. Familiarity with Form W-9, all Forms W-8, 1099, and 1042S tax forms.
•    Knowledge of Broadridge and Fenergo systems is a plus.
•    Experience with regulatory audits and reporting.
•    Ability to convey tax rules, regulations, and processes to Onboarding Operations and the Business lines.
•    Leadership skills, project management expertise and knowledge of industry trends are critical for success of this role.
•    Ability to interface with all facets of our business.
•    Ability to multitasking and project management capability.
•    Strong communication and problem solving skills.
•    Basic Knowledge of tax laws to support the Network Management Standards in gathering requirements for regulatory compliance for the GBM business.
•    Familiarity with investment fund structures (e.g. hedge funds, mutual fund trusts) and capital market products (e.g. securities lending, prime brokerage, repos, derivatives) is a plus.
•    Basic understanding of the capital markets and corporate banking business and regulatory trends is necessary, as is a client-centric approach to the role. The international scope of the business, together with the multiplicity of stakeholders, will require work outside of traditional business hours from time to time. 


Work Arrangement:


•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
•    The Incumbent is required to sit at a desk continuously; however, there is opportunity for movement.
•    Concentrated use of visual attention is required when reviewing documents. Some eye strain is possible due to this and the use of a PC.
•    Extreme stress is derived from pressure to meet deadlines as well as pressure from senior management to finalize issues.
•    Constant interruptions create difficulties when frequent complex analysis is required. Uncertain deadlines, the lack of control over the pace of decision-making by other Bank departments and some external counterparties at times can create frustration and delays.
