The Senior Analyst, Insights and Reporting contributes to the overall success of Canadian Banking, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the Bank’s business strategies and objectives.

 

The role will primarily be accountable for delivery of business intelligence and data analytics in support of Sale Channels, Customer Performance and Customer Profitability. Using analytics tools (e.g., PowerBI, SQL, BigQuery, SAS, Python, Advanced Excel, SAS), this role will have access to a wide range of data sources to uncover insights and support various business initiatives. The position supports the Director, Client Data Insights & Reporting, and works with various stakeholders including Analytics, Strategy, Business Lines and Channels.  They will also ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provide Business Insight and Strategic Support:
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel to monitor key performance metrics.
    • Leverage SQL and Python for automation and process efficiency in reporting workflows.
    • Ensure all outputs meet high standards of accuracy, consistency, and timeliness to support fact-based decision-making.
    • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support business decisions related to retail banking products and channels.
    • Collaborate with business teams to draw insights from key customer and financial data to establish trends, understand history and provide recommendations to Business Lines and Channels
  • Effectively champion data driven decision making:
    • Provide dynamic reporting and analysis on key performance metrics to various stakeholders in Retail, Small Business, Product lines, Channels, and other strategic groups.
    • Analyze and interpret critical financial metrics including Revenue, Provisions for Credit Losses (PCLs), Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA), Expenses, and KPIs to identify trends and drivers of profitability.
    • Collaborate with business teams to translate data findings into actionable recommendations that improve channel and customer performance.
    • Knowledge of Power BI and SQL required.
    • BigQuery, Advanced Excel, SAS and Python skills are considered an asset.
    • Provide strategic analysis that will assist the business to optimize strategy and product mix from various channels.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Experience in Banking, Reporting, Analytics and Strategy, Finance
  • Experience in working with and manipulating large data sets.
  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerBI and SQL
  • Proactive with solid presentation and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solver and have a flair for getting things done.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
