Purpose

 

The Technology & Innovation Banking team at Roynat Capital supports fast-growing Canadian technology companies with non-dilutive growth capital and comprehensive banking solutions—from seed to exit. With deep, hands-on experience in the Canadian tech ecosystem, our dedicated team delivers tailored financial services designed to meet the unique needs of this dynamic sector. We are committed to helping founders and investors scale their businesses and achieve long-term success.

 

The Analyst will join the team that manages the end-to-end process of structuring, due diligence, underwriting and on-going monitoring for both new and existing client opportunities. The team maintains strong engagement with key stakeholders across the technology ecosystem, building meaningful relationships and generating valuable insights.

 

This role contributes to the profitable growth and quality of the team’s portfolio by conducting in-depth analysis, supporting complex deal execution, and ensuring ongoing portfolio monitoring and risk management. The Analyst also engages directly with clients at times, in collaboration with the coverage team.

 
Accountabilities:

 

•    Support the Associate Director and Director with the structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit solutions for assigned prospects and clients.
•    Assist in management of portfolio of accounts, ensuring timely completion of annual credit reviews, monitoring of loan compliance and tracking industry and client-specific trends, all with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
•    Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple transactions and priorities at any given time, proactively managing workflow and ensuring high-quality deliverables across all deal teams.
•    Build and nurture cross-functional relationships within the Bank to deepen product knowledge. 
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
•    Foster a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
•    Adhere to any regulatory and internal Bank policies and requirements.

 


Education / Experience / Other Information:
 

Education:

 

•    Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
•    In progress professional designation (i.e., CPA, CFA, or CBV, etc) is considered an asset.
•    Relevant experience in financial services or related industries is considered an asset. 

 
Skills/Work Experience:

 

•    A high level of energy, commitment and strong sense of ownership are needed to be successful in the role.
•    Advanced skills in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, industry research and basic risk analysis techniques.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and oral). 
•    Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to multi-task.
•    Strong PC and data analytics skills are required, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel, and Powerpoint.

 

Working Conditions:

 

•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Some travel may be required.
