The Agile Coach is primarily responsible for advancing the effective usage of Agile practices within the Digital Banking organization.  The Agile Coach is responsible for shaping the continuous improvement culture of our Digital Banking organization, from business strategy down to engineering execution and quality assurance.


Is this role right for you?

  • Evangelize the value and benefits of Agile execution across Digital Banking.
  • You will evaluate and identify opportunities for Agile improvement, including tooling, communication, collaboration, activities, standards, measurement and adaptation.
  • Support Agile adoption through education, training, coaching, pairing and mentoring across cross-functional teams made up of Engineering, Product, Design, and Analytics members.
  • You will identify and help implement the best suited agile framework (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) for value delivery
  • Develop and facilitate Agile technical practices training – e.g. test-driven development, code refactoring, etc.
  • Research, experiment and introduce new tools, techniques and practices to help improve teams ability to deliver value.  Assist teams in the implementation and configuration of new tools and practices.  Encourage teams to experiment with new tools, techniques, and practices to support continuous improvement.  
  • You will assist in the facilitation of events and activities when teams require support.
  • Monitor and assess team dynamics to enable high-performing teams that can successfully self-organize and resolve conflicts.
  • You will educate teams on best practices for communication, collaboration & coordination.
  • Work closely with Delivery Leads to identify and escalate impediments (organizational & teams)
  • Align Digital Banking’s Agile implementation practices with Scotiabank’s enterprise delivery requirements.



Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

  • Extensive experience acting as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a fast-moving technology environment
  • Experience with software delivery and/or Agile transformation in complex technology environments
  • Deep knowledge of Agile principles and methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP)
  • Experience using Scaled Agile frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of team dynamics, change enablement, and human behavior.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, including the ability to distil technical details into human terms and to speak to a wide range of audiences (from technical users to executive leadership).
  • Excellent coaching, organizational skills and the ability to support multiple complex initiatives.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous and constantly shifting work environment, and able to pivot quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
