Purpose of Job:

Scotiabank has begun the journey to modernize both development practices and tools. One of the areas being explored is the public cloud and the various platform technologies that support both development and operations on the cloud. The aim is to reduce costs by providing a streamlined process and framework which will allow the development team to focus on building business logic.  We are looking to build our development team with influencers, makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward and enhance the experience of our customers.

API Management Services team establishes enterprise platform service in Plato to manage API and Microservices.

 

Major Accountabilities:

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining and managing all stages of Technology Product life cycle including prototyping/inception, testing, and production.
  • Work collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate our systems.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of productions systems.
  • Create and Support Test Automation and Continuous Integration & Deployment methodology/tooling and environment.
  • Help automate and streamline our operations and processes.
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
  • System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains.
  • Suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements.
  • Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
  • Create documentation including design, operational support documents.
  • Regularly conveying status to team and management.
  • Manage operations and support of all APIM platforms (Mulesoft / APIgee)

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years of software engineering industry experience
  • Strong PHP, Java and automation skills
  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Solid experience in application support in a 24x7 uptime environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Ansible, Chef or an equivalent
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with Google Cloud, Azure, AWS is required)
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git, and other CICD dev tools such as Jira, Jenkins, and Confluence.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  •  Previous experience / knowledge on APIGee, Mulesoft or some other APIM Platforms
  • Strong Linux system administration skills
  • Basic DB administration experience (Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Experience with Agile software development and project management methodologies.
  • Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).
  • Experience with API / API orchestration / Proxies / Gateways, whether creation or management on Mulesoft
  • Experience with automation scripting using Mulesoft Management APIs.
