This is a place where you’ll get to learn and develop your skills, while being recognized for your hard work. At Scotiabank, we’re passionate about bringing our whole selves to work, allowing us to create inclusive work environments for everyone to enjoy. Say hello to a career at Scotiabank.

Your Career as an Activate Program Associate:

We know that many of you have a perfect career path in mind post-graduation but navigating it can be difficult! Joining Activate is the answer you’ve been looking for! The Activate program has 5 separate business line streams that you can develop within which you get to select based on your passions and interests:

  1. Human Resources/ Marketing
  2. Global Finance
  3. Audit
  4. CPA – Chartered Professional Accounting
  5. Global Risk Management

During the Activate program, you will complete multiple rotations within your selected and preferred business line. This is key to your development and aims to ensure you receive a breadth of experience in a short period of time, and that you can discover your passion and we can see where you’ll thrive! Sound intense? It is. You’ll hone your skills in financial literacy and while supporting Strategic Functions, learning about different financial instruments and processes, as well as our products and client-offerings. You’ll strengthen your customer service skill set and expand your operational knowledge. You’ll gain a well-rounded view of the entire organization, while allowing you to gain practical experience working on high-impact projects within the group.

But wait – we saved the best for last! The best part is that you will be part of a cohort of students joining as associates at the same time. A really big component of the program is the social and community aspect. You will train together, come together for socials, learning and development sessions, and have a program senior manager dedicated to you and your cohort and everyone’s success and development. Not to mention the opportunity to seek opportunities for upskilling, learning technical skills, or even Spanish (for those Anglophones out there). At Scotiabank, we are obsessed with relationships and your development and success.

About the GRM, AML Risk Stream:

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Risk Team provides oversight over the banks Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, and sanctions compliance program (“AML Program”), including design and effective implementation. The AML program is designed to:

  1. Mitigate the risks of Scotiabank products or services being used for prohibited activities; and
  2. Ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to the bank.

To achieve this, we support the creation and maintenance of effective Know Your Client (“KYC”) processes, a risk-based approach to monitoring client activity to identify and report potentially suspicious and/or unusual activity, specialized training, independent testing, amongst other initiatives and activities.

The AML Risk Team includes functions that deal with data, technology, governance, reporting, policies and procedures, investigations, analytics, and so much more.

This program is for students who are about to graduate and are looking to secure that job now so that they can accelerate their career once they do. The people who are well-suited for this role manage internal and external relationships extremely well and are driven by excellence. They challenge themselves and the team members around them to be better.

We believe in relationships, so we want someone that loves people, is competitive, driven and who wants to win. If you think this program is “just a job” you couldn’t be more wrong. This is for those that want to get somewhere and that does not come easy; it’s a lot of work.

For students, we are more focused on who are you and what you will be, rather than the experience you’ve acquired to date. We do recognize that any experience helps to shape you, along with your contributions to extra-curriculars and volunteering.

We thank you all for your interest in Scotiabank!  However, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. If you require accommodation during the recruitment and selection process, please let us know. We will work with you to meet your needs.

How do I Apply?

For students, we are focused on learning about who you are and what you’re interested in to uncover your true potential. In short, we don’t believe resumes will provide us with an accurate depiction of what you’re truly about to properly assess your potential. Instead we want to get to know YOU and hear about the experiences that have shaped you. We know… this might sound crazy but for students applying to one of our co-ops, internships or TILT new grad programs we are no longer requiring resumes. Instead we ask that as part of your application, you complete the below:

  1. Complete your PLUM Profile here
  2. Complete a short one-way video interview here
  3. Apply to the role through our career site! When the application asks for your resume, instead upload a screenshot of your plum to show us you’ve completed it, we have full access to your entire profile from Plum and won’t use the screenshot but it’s a great reminder for each of you to have completed it. Alternatively, you can submit a resume if you want, we just will not be relying on it when we assess you.

We thank you all for your interest in Scotiabank! However, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. If you require accommodation during the recruitment and selection process, please let us know. We will work with you to meet your needs.

**In order to be considered for student opportunities at Scotiabank and/or Tangerine, you must submit your PLUM Assessment and Video Interview. **
