Purpose
Lead and oversee the CMF and Securities Financing in Asia to drive revenue growth and expand market share by developing and executing strategies and initiatives in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
The incumbent will build the business by cultivating relationships with Asian-based counterparties —agent lenders, GSIB prime desks, mega banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and asset managers—and sourcing new financing and funding opportunities. The role also involves tailoring strategies to local market dynamics and regulatory requirements, leveraging the global platform to deliver innovative solutions to Asian counterparties.
Accountabilities
Develop and execute strategies to achieve growth targets in CMF / Securities Financing opportunities across APAC, identifying and onboarding new counterparties
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, including key decision-makers, to deepen engagement and drive business opportunities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and coordinate with other teams to ensure seamless delivery of products and services, identifying cross-sell opportunities for FICC/GBM products to support revenue growth
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify and capitalize on opportunities for market share expansion
Participate in industry events and conferences to promote the firm’s CMF / securities financing capabilities and foster connections with key industry participants
Provide regular updates to management on client activity, product development, and business results
Lead a customer-focused culture within the team, leveraging broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to enhance the client experience
Ensure that the Bank’s risk appetite, risk culture, and compliance standards are embedded in day-to-day activities and decision-making
Foster a high-performance, inclusive team environment by attracting, retaining, developing, and motivating team members
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Dimensions
Management and execution of the Firm’s cross-asset secured financing transactions (including Repo, TRS and Secured Notes) in the APAC region based on cross-divisional partnership with Swaps, Securities Borrowing and Lending, Treasury, Prime, xVA and trading desks across Fixed Income and Equities to monetize firm assets externally
Dynamic management of internal and external resource constraints, including SLR, LCR, NSFR, ILST and RWA, to maximize resource value and minimize financing costs, alongside global optimization of collateral
Manage Secured Funding Client relationship as well as CCP relationships. Client base across Asia via new/ reinstating different types of structural secured funding trades to diversify the book
Create and implement the financial resources strategy, ensuring the most optimal use of the firm’s assets with liabilities, revenue targets and resource optimization objectives.
Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
Candidates must have a proven history Collateral Management & Financing
Strong relationships with financing counterparties – global lenders, GSIB prime desks, mega-banks, lifers and sovereign accounts
Bachelor’s degree required; CFA/CA designation is an asset
At least 5 years’ experience in securitization structuring, sales, or syndication
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Problem-solving abilities and pragmatic mindset
Strong interpersonal and client-focused skills
Able to manage priorities and work under pressure
Team-oriented approach
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, securities regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
Frequent travel within the APAC region, and moderate travel globally.
