Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Human Resources in APAC region, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Manager, Organization Development and Project Management, Human Resources, APAC will work closely with the Director, Human Resources, Asia Pacific for conceptualization, design and effective implementation of HR projects to meet the Bank’s strategy. The areas of coverage include leadership development, employee development and engagement, performance management and other change management processes and initiatives.
The Manager will work closely with APAC leaders, country / functional HR leads, respective Global/Regional HR Community of Expertise (COE) to proactively identify medium to long term enhancement to HR initiatives, operations and services through streamlining, up-skilling, change or new ‘product’ developments.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Organisation Design and Engagement Initiatives (50%) :
- Supports Regional HR Director, Asia Pacific in initiating medium to long term enhancement of HR initiatives, operations and services through up-skilling, change or new ‘product’ developments.
- Champions and deliver on employee engagement, talent development, leadership development, and learning strategies in support of the region’s culture, leadership & employee development approach and the business objectives.
- Conducts communication and engagement workshops to Management and staff on new initiatives rolled out/implemented.in APAC region.
- Supports the implementation of global HR programs e.g., Employee Listening Survey (ScotiaPulse), Talent Management Programs, Mentoring Program, Recognition Program (Applause, Best of the Best), etc.
- Maintains an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in learning and HR best practices
Talent Acquisition Coordination (30%)
- Supports Talent Acquisition team to facilitate a smooth hiring process by managing mid-high volume of interview scheduling across Hiring Managers / interviewers and candidates with minimal scheduling conflicts. This includes the usage and maintaining of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS - SAP SuccessFactors).
- Maintains the end to end process of recruitment, including headcount approvals, internal processes and trackers for job requisitions.
Learning & Leadership Development Programs / Talent Management (15%)
- Learning & Leadership Development Programs : Works with Global/Regional HR to roll out training and development projects for the region by identifying learning and performance gaps and provide tailored solutions to further the strategic goals of the Region.
- Partners with Global/ Regional GBM Learning Team to deliver iLead training programs for APAC People Managers and employees;
- Facilitates Global-led Executive Leadership Development Programs roll-out for APAC participants.
- Talent Management: Oversees the bank-wide talent and succession management process for GBM and Corporate Functions for the region. Prepares and collates talent information/ presentation decks for management reviews in accordance with global standards and policies. Drives APAC talent review and succession plan discussions. Tracks the development of high potentials in the bank.
- Supports business leaders and employees with processes and tools for effective development and career planning, leveraging global processes and tools.
APAC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) (10%)
- Provides support for the APAC Inclusion Council – works with APAC Co-Heads / DEI Chairs to put together APAC DEI programs and initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace culture.
- Set metrics to monitor ROI, in alignment with the GBM DEI plans.
Education / Experience / Other Information
The incumbent is required to operate most of the time on an independent basis and must be in possession of a wide range of skills and knowledge including but not limited to:
- A recognized university degree, min 10 years work experience in Human Resources (preferably a combination of change management, learning and development with HR generalist experience in multinational corporation environment)
- Strong project management skills and effective execution skills to ensure successful delivery and implementation of various HR programs.
- Strong team focus and collaboration to work closely with stakeholders
- Strong communication skills to articulate ideas, initiatives and impact through verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong strategic relationships skill to establish and maintain collaborative networks of strategic contacts both internally and externally.
- Committed focus to implement programs on time, within resource parameters and meeting expectations.
- Cross-cultural sensitivities to show flexibility and openness to differing ideas and perspectives, adapt to cultural differences, and effectively interact with others of different backgrounds and styles.
- Strong in MS Powerpoint, Excel and Word.
- Ability to think strategically with strong influencing skills at management level is essential
- Strong facilitation skills, including large group facilitations and across functions
