Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GWO Shanghai in China ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Ensuring all accounting systems are operated correctly on a daily basis; to do so, the incumbent must have a good knowledge of accounting procedures and a basic knowledge of corporate banking and commercial products and services;
  • Ensure the daily work is completed satisfying internal procedures and external regulatory requirements;
  • Ensure daily internal and external reports to be prepared and submitted on time;
  • Prepare daily transactions, entries in core system;
  • Process loan accounting and administration functions, ensuring routine operations conform to established regulations and that operating efficiency and accuracy is achieved by:
  • Be familiar with all approved operating procedures in relation to loan transactions such as commercial loans, syndication, agency loans;
  • Ensuring all entries relating to loan transactions posted on the BankMaster system are accurate, correct, legitimate and properly authorized, and that all other data/ changes input into the system are correct, legitimate and properly authorized;
  • Processing loan activities including payments of principal and interest, rollovers, interest rate fixing and fees collection etc;
  • Ensuring timely collection and distribution of principal payments, interest and loan fees in relation to agency loan;
  • Ensuring the maintenance of all areas (i.e. either principal or interest) records and follow up for receipt/payment, and escalating non-payment to Account Management for necessary action, when required;
  • Assisting in ongoing monitoring of compliance with the terms and conditions specified in credit authorization with reference to the Loan Agreement as is regularly required;
  • Ensuring timely receipt and safe custody of required loan documentation and collateral, both negotiable and non-negotiable;
  • Performing detailed check of loan related returns prepared by other clerical staff, ensuring that the returns are completed in an accurate and efficient manner with the prescribed submission deadlines;
  • Ensuring the customer limits are accurately input and updated to the BankMaster system, in accordance with the Credit Authorization
  • Ensuring the accurate processing, posting and maintenance of daily transactions originated by customers;
  • Accounting for all negotiable items, stamps, cash keys, combinations and use ID’s consigned by exercising security precautions in accordance with Bank Regulations and assigned limits;
  • Processing transactions within approved limits;
  • Processing transaction according to customer’s instruction and in line with internal/external/regulatory requirements;
  • Produces regulatory reports in accordance with SOPs/production schedule/regulatory reporting deadlines;
  • Gathers data, performs quality control functions & compiles data for report submission;
  • Ensures report timeliness, completeness & accuracy of submission.
  • Ensure the workflow within the department is kept smooth and efficient through:
  • Coordinate with  BNS GZ to ensure all daily transactions are processed timely and accurately;
  • All trades are confirmed in accordance with the Bank's procedures and standard requirements;
  • Trading limits are closely monitored and updated accurately;
  • All counterparty credit and trading limits are maintained in BankMaster system and that documentation is on hand to validate same;
  • All temporary carve out and borrowing of limits are updated correctly and the appropriate confirmation with the lending office is maintained;
  • Confirmations/tracers are sent and followed up as per laid down procedure
  • Assist internal and external on-site audit or inspection;
  • Taking full responsibility for assigned customer enquire, concerns and complaints by resolving those matters within assigned time frames and standards;
    Other ad-hoc work assigned by supervisor;
 

Education / Experience 

  • The incumbent requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of all basic accounting procedures and local regulatory reporting, therefore requiring a more seasoned employee.
  • In addition, he/she requires a working knowledge of banking products. The ability to utilize video display terminals to input/retrieve account and other standard information is also required.
  • Good organizational ability are required to effectively assist/train personnel. He/she must be flexible in a constantly changing environment (procedural and automated systems).
