Located in Scarborough, Global Networks Engineering & Design Services is responsible for providing & maintaining the highest quality of telecommunications service, consisting of the transport network infrastructure and supporting equipment for voice, video and data connectivity for Scotiabank Global networking infrastructure.


Reporting to the Senior Manager – Canadian Network Services, the Senior Network Analyst is responsible for the design, deployment and operation of Scotiabank’s enterprise infrastructure services as it pertains to Voice and Network technologies. The Senior Network Analyst will work with technical and business subject matter experts on small to medium, technically complex and risky projects to ensure proposed solutions meet the requirements of the business and to design infrastructure that aligns with Bank and divisional standards, best practices, technology roadmaps and sustained support structures; all while meeting business goals and adapting to technology trends.


The Senior Network Analyst maintains technology skills and knowledge of emerging technological trends across one or more network technology disciplines with strong working knowledge of other key technologies in order to support a truly global network infrastructure with offices all around the globe.


You will work in an activity-based office environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  Limited travel within the Greater Toronto Area, and globally may be required.




• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• On small to medium projects, accountable to design and recommend a solution. Regularly participate in the design process with team members to ensure the recommended design achieves the appropriate balance between cost, re-use, ongoing maintenance, operability and scalability.

• Participate in the delivery of the negotiated production/function to the user, while following Scotiabank’s standards and methodology.

• Provide post-project production support for assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.

• Work with teams to document technical standards and road-maps and champion their implementation.

• Mentors and coaches others within assigned area, transferring subject matter expertise to other IT practitioners where appropriate.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.




• You have at least 4 years of progressive IT working experience in network analysis & design for an enterprise network.

• You consider yourself a subject matter expert in transformative corporate office networking technologies like Wireless Networks, Software-Defined WAN and WAN Optimization technologies like Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS).

• You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.

• You have strong communication (verbal/written) and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.

• Your key technology strengths would include, but are not limited to, an in-depth working knowledge of the following:

- Data network technologies and solutions including NFVs (Network functions virtualization), Hypervisors, routers, switches, firewalls, load-balancers, wireless technologies and DNS (Domain Name System).

- IP networks, routing protocols, optical circuitry and layer 1 network connectivity.

- Networking Operating systems such as Cisco IOS/IOS-XE, Cisco NX-OS, FortiOS, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Arista EOS® Cloud Network OS.

- Enterprise network management applications.

- Python, Ansible or other automation tools.

- Private and Public cloud technologies like VMware vRealize Automation (vRA), Microsoft Azure & Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Programming skills are considered an asset.




• Post-secondary education in Science or Engineering or Computer Science or Networking Technology.

• CCIE or equivalent designation is preferred.
