The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Network Operations (GNO) team is responsible for operating the Scotiabank’s network globally on a 24x7x365 basis. Our GNO team monitors the global network, troubleshoot and implements required network changes. GNO provides levels 1 & 2 support and works closely with the level 3 teams, Global Network Engineering (GNE), on troubleshooting and fixing complex network issues.


The role:

As Senior Manager to one of the Global Network Operations teams, you will be leading a team of 8-10 network and infrastructure engineers. The team is responsible for intake, documentation, change management, troubleshooting and some network deployment projects.


You will also be the liaison between Global Network Operations and Global Network Engineering teams to establish a 2-way communication channel between the two teams to have regular cadence, operation readiness and the onboarding of new network environment for day 2 support plus following up on outstanding post-mortem action items.


When required, there is occasional after-hours & weekend work.


Is this role right for you?

  • You will be leading a team of network and infrastructure engineers, who are responsible for providing network monitoring and day 2 support globally.
  • You will act as a liaison between the network engineering and operation team to identify gaps, transfer the knowledge and streamline the network operations.
  • You will perform network operation readiness and onboarding for new network infrastructures and oversee the day 2 support document hand off from engineering to the operation team.
  • You will work closely with the 24x7 network operation team to understand and address the identified gaps.
  • You will maintain, develop and update processes and procedures in the network operation knowledge base, communicate them to the operation teams and make sure they are being followed.
  • You will provide reporting on network outages and KPI’s related to network incident and problem tickets.
  • You will oversee the intake and change management process within the network operation team.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You possess superb communication (verbal/written) skills in SPANISH & ENGLISH in order to connect & present to both technical and business functional stakeholders & leaders.
  • You have at least 10+ years of progressive hands-on technical working experience, in any capacity, with Infrastructure support in an operational environment.
  • You have at least 7+ years of hands-on technical working knowledge with TCP/IP networking.
  • You have at least 2+ years of working experience in managing direct and indirect technical resources; both locally & off-shore.
  • You can demonstrate the ability to influence and orchestrate resources at all levels.
  • You possess strengths in the areas of tactical & strategic planning, execution, problem solving, and leadership.
  • You have completed a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in an equivalent technology stream.
  • The ability to expand on ideas and approaches through creative thinking is an asset.
  • An asset if your body of work includes experience in contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within a deployment/build environment.
  • Network and infrastructure related certificates, such as Cisco, ITIL, CISSP and Azure are an asset.
