Reporting to the Director, of Data Protection and Loss Prevention, the Senior Manager, Data Loss Prevention is a member of a team responsible for the ongoing implementation of security controls to mitigate ongoing data security risk involving the loss or exposure of Scotiabank informational assets. The Senior Manager, Data Loss Prevention is responsible for managing and providing advisory and technical knowledge in the development, implementation and improvement of solutions to protect Scotiabank’s informational assets from loss or exposure.



  • Manage DLP analytical teams and provide guidance on process and event management while ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained
  • Govern the deployment of data security controls that mitigate and reduce the loss and exposure of Scotiabank’s informational assets.
  • Recommend strategic security solutions and security control improvements specific to the enhancing the identification of data security events.
  • Lead projects and meet tight timelines while dealing with multiple business lines
  • Technical knowledge/support to automate processes within existing applications and/or other researched solutions
  • Develop and manage policies and rules deployed as part of Scotiabank’s Data Loss Prevention program.
  • Expand on threat scenarios and monitoring/blocking to mitigate potential threats.
  • Coordinate with application and business teams to enable protection services and provide guidance through knowledge of network architecture, domains, policy and processes
  • Ensure currency of support documentation, operational playbooks, and data catalogues



  • Post-secondary education with studies focused on information/cyber security
  • Over 5 years of current and working knowledge in the field of information or cyber security.
  • Proficient people management skills with the ability to motivate and communicate direction accordingly
  • Strong approach to critical thinking, analytics, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work extremely well under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate a current and working knowledge of Information Security best-practices, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in technical writing & communication for a business audience.
  • Data Management and Data Protection security experience
  • Willingness and ability to work with teams and build relationships using an open and respectful communication and collaboration style
  • Professional certifications and membership of associations in the field of information/cyber security (i.e. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)).
