The Team:

DevOps Technology Services and Operation team in Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) is responsible for engineering, end user support and operations of several DevOps platforms and pipelines as a part of overall DevOps Technology landscape in Scotiabank. These services enable Scotiabank’s global application development community of over 15000 users to plan, develop, build and deliver software with high velocity while continuing to meet Scotiabank's change control and security objectives with the goal to provide best in class banking customer experience.

Overall team’s mandate includes:

  • Service design, end user support and training.
  • DevOps Tools and CI/CD Pipelines Architecture, Engineering, Administration, Maintenance and Operations.

The role:

You will be part of Continuous Integration and Delivery (CIAD) team responsible for engineering, end users support and operating the following set of tightly integrated technologies to support Scotiabank’s strategic programs to deliver applications to critical Private and Public Cloud infrastructure:  Atlassian -  Crowd, Jira, Confluence and BitBucket, Cloud Bees Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory and SonarQube.

Your will be providing an expert support to Scotiabank global application development community along with leading several administrative, maintenance and engineering activities, ensuring the platform stability, reliability, and scalability through:

  • Keeping a focus on providing expert end user service and support for the tools and the underlying infrastructure as well as in general CI/CD area
  • Lead or participate in various projects and activities team’s area of responsibility to improve productivity, observability, and SRE/SRO metrics.
  • Maintaining an improving High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions as well as engaging in proactive capacity planning
  • Working in partnership with various development teams including Accelerator (ACCP) development team, Scotia Digital DevOps teams, operational support, security and Audit teams as well as vendors
  • Follow incident, problem and change management enterprise processes, perform root cause analysis for any incidents and recurring issues and follow through with the preventive measures
  • Improve proactive continuous monitoring and remediation to reduce customer impact, MTTR, and unplanned outages
  • Creating and maintain documentation for supported infrastructure and platforms.
  • Being a part of the teams’ rotational support and on call duties and, when required, be a part of after-hours project implementations in the evenings or weekends.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You are an Information Technology professional with broad experience in development, operations, project management and service delivery
  • At the core of your strength is your ability to see the big picture - you understand that your contributions are integral to keeping Scotiabank ahead of the technological curve, while enabling our customers to grow and prosper.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and very good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage own’s time and focus on high priority tasks as per team’s goals
  • You have at least 5 years of experience supporting application development teams as a part of a support team and hands-on technical working experience in in the following areas:
    • Managing, administering, and operating Atlassian - Crowd, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Jenkins CloudBees JFrog Artifactory and SonarQube including integrations with Fortify, Web Inspect and BlackDuck
    • technical experience in CI/CD pipelines deploying into Cloud Services: GCP (preferrable) or Azure  
    • Maintaining the on prem infrastructure for DevOps tools in scope, experience with using GKE on prem for CloudBees CI is highly desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux (RedHat preferable) and Windows 
  • Gradle and Maven build languages   
  • Using Agile methodologies such as Kanban to track the tasks and activities, preferably in an engineering, support, or operational team
  • You have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with scripting/programming languages such as: Shell, REST, Ansible, YAML ,Groovy, Phyton
  • You have good understanding of IaC and GitOps   

Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field.#scotiatechnology
