The Business Solutions Expert will provide analytic and reporting services for Scotiabank’s CyberSecurity Analytics department. In this role, you will serve as an expert in data analysis and in the design and implementation of metrics and reports for the IS&C Security Analytics Team. The successful candidate will also lend their business consulting expertise to the IS&C management team and supported business units.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Research, define, compile and prioritize the collective data and reporting needs of CyberSecurity Team
  • Design, develop and implement metrics and reports based on current priorities.
  • Investigate, select and coordinate data feeds from the most appropriate source(s) to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Continuously strive to automate the most time and resource intensive processes related to data collection, validation, transformation, etc. to optimize the production and delivery of standard IS&C reports. The current IS&C reports are produced monthly, quarterly and annually and are related to risk, breach events and prevention measures.
  • Manage the on-going enhancement, operations and support of the GTS and IS&C reporting platforms managed by the IS&C Analytics team.
  • Build and maintain financial / costing models on a broad spectrum of business case scenarios and IT services.
  • Conduct project planning, scheduling and resourcing activities, and perform risk assessments and cost/benefit analysis. Establish milestones, final deliverables and budgets for projects.
  • Serve as an analytics and reporting subject matter expert. Resolve complex reporting issues and provide ad-hoc analytical services to the IS&C Management team.
  • Apply your risk management and technical knowledge as a business consultant to assist in the design, development and quality assurance of information technology projects. 
  • Continually acquire and enhance your knowledge of business strategies, risk management products, and financial markets.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, internal clients and external vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple and conflicting activities.

  • Ability to effectively handle ambiguous, ad hoc tasks and changes in direction and priorities in response to unexpected events and circumstances.


  • 10+ years of experience in analytics and reporting.
  • 3+ years of consulting experience with information technology projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, Business Intelligence (BI) and Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tools, Microsoft Personal Productivity Suite, SQL and SharePoint.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, pivot tables and lookups with at least some macro and VBA skills and experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles.
  • Exposure to IT management processes and frameworks such as ITIL and COBIT and the security NIST framework
  • A recognized undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
