This position is on the Net Promoter System team, which tracks and collects all customer transactions for surveys to be conducted to get customer feedback – across all channels and countries for all business lines. These surveys and customer feedback help in improving Scotiabank’s services and products, and maintaining competitive edge.


Huge volume of data is involved, and the team uses sophisticated patterns to optimize performance. The team is also involved in migrating to a new platform – Data Lake/Hadoop Infrastructure and the related tech stack. Bank is looking to deploy Data Lake on a cloud PAAS platform. Experience with both existing iWay/Datawarehousing and the newer Cloud/Data Lake/Hadoop environment will be valuable for this position.


Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the Programmer Analyst Advisory will be involved in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle including research, analysis of requirements, development and quality assurance for new systems or enhancements. Initiatives will be medium to large in scope with a high degree of complexity, and will require in depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.


What we are looking for?


  • Drive the analysis, design and development of quality technology solutions; works closely with clients, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements.
  • Responsibilities may also include participation in component and application architecture, design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy vs. build recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced analysts and programmers.
  • Work with clients to determine best fit for technology and how best to meet requirements or, if necessary, provide estimations to best amend requirements to meet the realities of delivery timelines and resource constraints.
  • Participate in the creation of cost estimates, project plans and status.


Are you the right person for the role?

You Have;

  • 5 years of practical technical working experience in developing and deploying iWay DataMigrator (DM) & iWay Service Manager (SM) solutions.
  • Proactive, demonstrate initiative, have an eagerness to learn, be energetic and self-motivated, and thrive on challenge.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of most aspects of Information Technology and industry practices as well as a detailed understanding of systems architecture, business systems analysis and application development.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Possess specialized technical working experience / knowledge with the following technical currencies within a client/server and multi-tier environment:
  • RDBMS development experience (DB2/Oracle, etc.)
  • ETL development experience
  • Datawarehouse patterns (Star, Snowflake) and techniques
  • Scripting experience (Unix, Tidal, Autosys etc.)
